About this deal

This is turn earned my undying love and support for James, which was further cemented as we got to know him, his damaged heart and self-reproach all carefully hidden by a mask full of confidence trotted out for public show. These are two characters that we met previously in books one and two and I will admit that I wasn't too keen on Trica to begin with but this book has most definitely changed that.

Also, this was juggled between her POV and the POV for the loser she ended up marrying and the writing was so annoying because you’d read it in her POV then read the EXACT same situation/interaction from his POV. There was nothing different, I didn’t need to read 3 chapters of the same stuff from both POVs multiple times. On a more personal level, I'm also not a fan of 3rd person dual POV writing, I feel like dual POV works best in the 1st person. So I start by stating that I, like many other readers, have some big pet peeves that make or break a book for me. 1.) I despise love triangles, they never end well. 2.) Cheating is just wrong, period. 3.) Female leads that make me want to pull my hair out. CHEERS, this book has all 3 of my big no-no’s. James is Sawyer's older brother. He was estranged from his family for a while due to the choices he had made, now he is trying to repair his relationship with his brother and his family. James works hard for the family business, but something is missing from his life, he wants what his brother has, a woman to love. Tricia is Billie's best friend. She wasn't at all what I expected her to be. She's had a lot of heartache in her life, heartache she has kept hidden from everyone. Behind her carefree facade is a woman who has been broken. The leads conveyed their characters well. I can see their anguish, joy, regret and love toward each other. This promotes cheating! Charlie literally engages in a relationship with her best friend's brother which would have been okay but he is married!?? IT IS NOT OKAY! GIRL COME ON YOU ARE BLOODY 18 FREAKING YEARS OLD AND YOU DEFINITELY KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE SIDE GIRL SO DON'T CHEAT! I mean if they're in love, then at least be honest about your love and open up the facts with people instead of continuing the shit game. See if Lex and Samantha were in an unhappy marriage, then they should have at least been honest with each other as to they are cheating with each other by indulging in extramarital affairs. Like duh, what's the point of even staying in that relationship if you are getting nothing out of it; to a point where they can't even tell each other that they both don't love each other anymore? That is not an excuse for Lex to cheat on his wife with his sister's best friend and its not an excuse for Charlie either for messing around with a married man (EVEN IF THEY LOVE EACH OTHER!) Try to upgrade your zombie mobile first. The benefit of even 1 extra worker is immense, allowing you to save time by completing multiple tasks at once. After all, if you’re one zombie is building something, he has to stay put until it is completed. This means he’s not gathering resources for that period of time. In a game where time is finite, standing still is a big mistake. James is the eldest of the Wild children and brother to Sawyer from the Dare Duet. We learnt somethings about James in those first two books, especially when he opened up to Billie and then started to repair his relationship with Sawyer. The author had dropped hints about James and Tricia’s attraction but now we learn what really happened between them. Charlie is so indecisive! She plays around all the time like she knows that she is engaged but if she is having feelings for Lex, then she could have opened up about it with Julian so that he doesn't get broken just like how she was 9 years ago. If she has experienced that trauma so much so that she was admitted to the psych ward, then why the hell does she do the same to Julian?? I know that it was for the plot but there are so many ways this story could be re-written without all the cheating that happened. She literally sleeps with both the guys, kisses both of them, and says "I want you" to both all while being engaged to one. If she needs time to decide, she could have taken it without cheating or indulging sexually with the other one and then lied about it when asked. She also does the same mistake when she was 18 and she plays around with her best friend's brother! She could have been with him if he was single and if everyone was in the know about the relationship including the families of the involved parties! What she had with James was mutual extraordinary chemistry, why was that dismissed over and over again?

It was fun catching up with Billie and Sawyer. Their kids are great fun and a light relief to the heavy subjects covered. I also liked seeing again a possible connection between Hammer and the brother’s sister Lorna and wonder if thats a duet in the works?

I knew Tricia, she was fiercely independent, a party girl, and not at all interested in settling down. But I felt sure in my heart that our paths kept crossing for a reason. We were just... meant to be. Decide your first move early. Don’t spend all your time going straight at the objective. Chances are good that once you clear the path there will still be some kind of object or obstacle in the way. Instead, decide which resources you’re going to need most to get to that first step and focus all your efforts there. When it’s done you can move on to the next. I'd been really looking forward to this having seen James and Tricia's interactions in the previous duet that I loved. I wasn't disappointed at all, what a wonderful book full of feeling, emotion and steamy, sexy hot chemistry. Over the years each time they saw each other, the world just faded away, they still felt the same, but...

Is a broken past worth fighting for?? Or is it better to move on with the new and improved type of love? There is so many wrong things in this book, the writing style was okay but boy did this book k-word me! I am down for any book but this was just NOT IT! Charlotte, I don't know what you're implying, but I don't pay for sex, and I think it's pretty obvious which ones are boys and which ones are girls." My last thing that I will hate on, is the ending. It was the worst, most confusing cliff-hanger I have ever seen. Nothing would ever make me want to continue the series, so the cliff-hanger was just dumb and unnecessary. Oh-em-gee, like hello! It's the hottest spot in town right now," he squeals, clapping his hands in delight.I was honestly hoping for a light hearted drama, but I got one full of angst, chauvinistic behavior and victim blaming. It’s one thing if you’re not actually in “official” relationships / the other person knows you’re dating other people or if the relationship is super unhappy like if Julian was cheating and abusive and she couldn’t get out. But Julian was fine, annoying, but fine. And the problems with his jealousy and paranoia were all legitimate issues caused by her cheating on him and lying to him. She would literally cheat on him in other rooms while he was there. Like what. We already know that James and Tricia have history but what I loved in this book was learning the finer details of their relationship. I adore James, and during the first part of the book I was hurting for him. His past relationships have left a mark on his heart and I am certain that like me, you will totally understand why he behaves in the way that he does. I believed that being loved by him was going to be the greatest gift and as the story progressed, I knew I was correct because he is loving, caring, kind, passionate, considerate and will 100% give his support when it is needed. I went into this book with an open mind. I can handle cheating stories, I grew up loving soaps with my grandma. But seriously -I could barely handle another minute of these two assholes. And by assholes I mean Lex and Charlotte.

One of the worst half-books I've ever read (because it's not a full arc it's huge book split in half so it ends unfinished), I will not be accepting recs from the tiktoker that recced this again LOL And do not get me started on Lex *fans face* I shit you not this guy sounds over the top HOT, these two together are like like panty wetting rabbits on speed!! At least these two cheating pigs end up with each other. They were apart ten years. Their love isn't that strong (insert eyeroll) So here is where I stop…obviously there is lots of story filled with serious heat, some LOL fun friend times, OMG scenes, and a bunch of WTF are you doing situations. I found myself skimming thru and reading only the Lex and Charlotte scenes.

I laughed at the similarities between the brothers because they can’t see it, but to me they are two loving, caring and passionate men. It was nice seeing James come out of his brother’s shadow. The story just pulls you in, I did hate the lying and cheating that occurred in this and just wanted to strangle them both
