About this deal

Spray bottles - already labelled - are made from fully recycled plastic, collected from the coastal areas that are most at risk of plastic pollution. Jérôme Bruhat, CEO of Robertet, says with this investment they are opening a "new chapter in agronomy".

In this episode, Rose Doyle (@RoseDoyle_) talks to BioPOD alumnus and PhD student Eddie Martin (@Sonifyed). They discuss different ways of visualising protein structures and how sound can help us get more information from protein sequences. In his research, he turns a protein sequence into a short melody. From this melody, it is then possible to “hear out” some distinct features of the protein. Eddie also explains the intricacies of sound design and how to best convey the variations between different amino acids. In this episode Neelakshi talks to Dr. Sandy Hetherington about the work in plant paleobotany and evolution. The BioPod container is assessed for its potential to perform economically viable under the three scenarios of vegetable production. The three scenarios are: In 2014, she cofounded Hardware Club, an investment firm dedicated to physical, connected products and robotics. Now, she’s realizing her childhood fantasies as the founder and CEO of Interstellar Lab—which has set itself the ambitious goal of building inflatable pods that can support life on other planets. “I had to learn a lot about aerospace, life support, agriculture, and architecture to start this one,” she says. The structure is installed without a foundation and at 11m long, 5m wide and 6m high, it offers up to 100m2 of controlled growing space.

This product is the self-sustaining food production system called BioPod. Built to withstand extreme climates, the modules aspire to land on other planets in few years after a complete refit, but, importantly, can be highly beneficial across our globe too. The architecture reduces land and water needed to produce food on Earth by more than 99%. Specific environmental conditions are realized to grow a diverse array of crops and plants. Predictive maintenance is then used to achieve to achieve high-precision agriculture. Where do plant scientists get their plant materials from? How do you best grow a new species? In this episode, Haomiao sits down with Dr Sophie Haupt, the manager of the plant growth facility at the University of Edinburgh. As part of the facility team, she supports research and teaching projects by growing all kind of plants in grow domes, glass houses, and of course outside. We also asked her advice for students and young professionals. So why not grab a tea and sit down with us to talk about the past, present and future, about our School and yourself? The innovative designs of Interstellar Lab might seem like a moonshot, but the projects are materializing on Earth as they just released their first BioPod, with the help of Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud. Jim Rhoné, Chief Product Officer at Interstellar Lab, talks to designboom to delve into the forward-thinking company and its extraterrestrial work.Bios Urn is the world's first biodegradable urn designed to turn you into a tree after you are dead. The scenario of salads grown in the MGS system presents a profitable investment. It is worth mentioning, that the BioPod container has a flexible growth design, which can be modified according to the demands. Thus, if the container was designed for the salads, tomatoes and cucumbers to occupy 50%, 25% and 25% of the available area in the container can be a highly profitable investment.
