About this deal

If you are shaving your body, such as legs or armpits the Leaf razor is the most advanced plastic free body shaving razor on Earth. It does deliver a wonderfully effortless shave. It would go out on a limb and say it makes me think about not bothering with all my other razors (DEs, SEs, injectors, modern and vintage). It's that good. However I know I would get bored just using one razor, so that's not going to happen.

The Well Kept is the heaviest at 98 grams (3.46 oz.), but one thing I do prefer about it is the handle has sharp waffly grooves that give a better grip for wet hands. The Leaf Twig Razor is made for anybody, anywhere - head, face, underarms or legs. You can start shaving straight away as the Leaf Twig razor comes with 5 leaf single edge blades. Another factor contributing to a less close shave is that, as you may remember, I did everything wrong. (Well Kept and Albatross had the benefit of exfoliation, focus and shaving cream. The Leaf razor got none of that.) Cons of the Leaf Razor: One user writes “The handle on the Leaf Razor is abnormally long (measuring 6” from the head). This makes the overall use unique but awkward in my opinion.” This (or the standard version) would be an excellent choice for someone new to wet shaving or wanting to branch out into SE shaving.A word to the wise: You have to be slow, careful and methodical with these tools. It takes time and patience to shave with a safety razor. The weight is perfect, hefty and solid! I really like the feel of the razor in my hands as I'm using it. I do wish it had a round, knurled handle but (that's) just because I'm used to the handles on DE razors. It took a few uses to get used to the handle but after that, there was no issue as it's quite ergonomic, and not at all slippery.

Face shaving - many face shavers tend to gravitate towards the Leaf Twig Razoror Leaf Thorn Razor because the head of the razor is smaller and easier to fit into tight spaces such as under the nose. Note: Leaf sent me both of their razors to review, along with their shaving soap bar, razor stands, and extra blades. And Earth Hero sent me the Albatross and Well Kept razors, which I also really appreciate! (This is how I’m able to compare so many pricey products – and hopefully help you figure out the difference without wasting lots of cash. Although I received the products for free, this is not a sponsored or paid review, and my (many) opinions expressed here are my own.) Leaf Razor Review While falling down one of my research rabbit holes, I started digging into the different sharpness of different brands of safety razor blades.

Stirling Candy Cane Aftershave Splash 100ml

Related: I also tested Leaf Shave’s new dermaplaner in a separate review!] And here’s the story of how that testing started: And they’re not referring to the post-shave first-aid you’ll be giving yourself until you get the hang of it.) I can never quite get the top plate aligned uniformly to the blade. I'll try to position the top plate manually just before tightening up but it has a mind of its own and moves anyway. This doesn't however seem to affect performance as far as I can tell. I guess it's just tolerance in manufacturing.

So what is it like to use? It's no weedy performer; I can definitely feel the blade whilst shaving, which I kind of like as it tells me to go easy when mowing down the stubble. Not having the standard version of the Twig, I can't compare that with this aggressive version. The Twig Razor is made for anybody, anywhere - head, face, underarms or legs. You can start shaving straight away as the Leaf Twig Thorn razor comes with 5 leaf single edge blades. I asked Leaf about the slippery handle issue. They reminded me to make sure the handle and my hands were soap-free (which probably won’t be happening, if we’re being realistic). But the Leaf had no learning curve! And the quality feels just as high as the others, and shave is just as good. So I just don’t see the point of anything else, unless it’s to save money on the initial investment. Different Razor Blade Sharpness But this razor takes innovation to the next level. The blade loading tray is genius, it's impossible to set the blade crooked due to the magnetized stoppers.

TSA did want to take a closer look at my razor –just once so far, flying out of Boston. The agent looked at the razor, and just asked me to remove the blades, which they confiscated. Of course, I kept the actual razor (and the stash of replacement blades that they didn’t notice in my toiletry kit, mwah-ha-ha!) Surely using a safety razor gets better with practice? Use short strokes. AKA don’t shave all the way up your leg in one go, because you might skin the whole damn thing before you realize what you’ve done. It's got some bite which I assume I would prefer to the standard version which some have said is on the mild side.
