Given how cheap the Intex Challenger K2 kayaks are it’s not that surprising that they get some small holes in them. The Challenger Kayak is highly suitable for beginners (like me) and seasoned paddlers alike. It may not be the boat you need to shoot the rapids in the Grand Canyon, but if you want good times on the water, this affordable Intex Inflatable Kayak will give you hours of fun.

When a box about the size of a cooler with a kayak pictured on it was dropped off at my doorstep, I was intrigued. Pulling the Intex Explorer K2 out of the box, I could see this inflatable was a significant step up from cheap, pool toy-type boats. Intex kayaks are available across North America at box stores and online outlets. These inexpensive inflatable kayaks are a good choice if you’re low on storage space and looking for a casual kayak for recreational paddling on calm, sheltered water without breaking the bank. Intex kayaks are available for a range of needs, including recreational paddling and fishing, single and tandem, for paddlers of all sizes. But those without the luxury of a garage or car may find the portability of an inflatable a necessary trade-off. Inflatable kayaks take up very little space when deflated, are light to carry, can be easily transported, and can rival many standard models for robustness. What we notice when paddling are the rather high and wide side chambers. On the one hand, this makes the boat more stable and safer on the water. On the other hand, when paddling with the double paddle paddle, you often come up against the wide side tubes, which would be annoying on longer trips. I think the holes in ours are more to do with how we store them than running over something in the water. Never mix alcohol and paddling. Inside the kayak, there’s plenty of legroom for kayakers of most sizes. Sea Eagle produces some of the highest quality inflatable kayaks on the market. They utilize drop-stitching to keep the walls rigid, and use robust PVC to resist abrasion and impact.
