About this deal

If you are interested in the competitive standpoint, when we talk about statistics, a tremendous effort is done by Rob from the Honest Wargamer, Ziggy and Tsports Network! in the AoS Stat Centre with precious information, constantly kept up to date. I like their special rules – before they were mostly just fast dudes that hit stuff, which you could get elsewhere – now they negate the first two wounds or mortal wounds caused to the unit in the combat phase. Load them up with Mystic Shield or All Out Defense and see them tank smaller units on the flanks, holding stuff up. For that reason I think I’d like to consider taking two units of five instead of one unit of ten – spreading out that ability and really messing around with flank objectives. They have high damage output and can dish out a lot of damage in melee combat, making them effective at taking down enemy units. They are also quite durable, with high toughness and a decent number of wounds, making them difficult to take down. Additionally, the Chaos Marauder Horsemen can also be used in conjunction with other Chaos units, such as Chaos Warriors or Chaos Knights, to create a powerful and versatile army. The Core Rules give one Hero the opportunity to do a Heroic Action per Hero Phase. Rituals of Ruin are special Heroic Actions that each BOC Hero can do during the BOC player’s Hero phase (you can do one normal Heroic Action from the Core Rules, then each Hero can do one Ritual of Ruin as well – you can’t use the same Ritual twice, however). Additionally, one Hero in reserve can even do a Ritual of Ruin Heroic Action, treating the board edge as the location to measure from to affect enemies. Interestingly, this doesn’t work for actions that target friendly units. You gotta get on the field for that.

All gor-kin despise Sigmar, and they celebrated when the Dark Gods finally took a grip of the Mortal Realms invading them. The Beasts of Chaos once proliferated in all Mortal Realms, even before the primitive races of humans, aelven and duardin started building civilizations. They were able to slaughter them at ease and no one could contrast them. Then Sigmar arrived, starting to build cities with high walls and organised military infrastructure and his followers chased the gor-kin away from their territories. They tamed the wilderness that once belonged to the Beasts of Chaos, forcing them in the darkest and more chaotic corners of the mortal realms. Quakefray, hordes of behemoths led by Cygors, who become Priests in this army. Cygor and Ghorgon become battlelines. The Chaos War Mammoth is said to have originated in the Realm of Chaos, where it was created by the dark powers that reside there. In terms of gameplay, Cygors are a powerful unit choice for any Beasts of Chaos army that wants to focus on brute force and close combat. The much-maligned Cygor gets a buff in the Quakefray, a new Greatfray for this Battletome. Cygors become Priests, the only Priest that BoC have access to. Their prayer does mortal wounds to objective holding units and makes it harder for them to hold said objective.

Their main battle trait allows for a zero-deploy army, meaning that during set-up you can choose to deploy zero units in the battlefield and still get some benefits out of it. The Age of Chaos was the golden age for Beasts, who were finally able to take revenge on Sigmar protegees. Entire civilizations crumbled under their hooves, and all who didn’t die in the slaughter, were sacrificed under the Herdstones. These monuments impregnated with Chaos energies, represent the focal point of a Greatfray, where prisoners are immolated to obtain mutations and weapons are forged. They are also the only type of rude construction that gor-kin maintain, as everything else is toppled and destroyed. They unwittingly do the will of the Dark Gods even though they are cursed by them to an eternity of pain, bitterness, and insanity . However, it is also possible to sacrifice a cheap hero that would keep taunting a slow but powerful enemy unit towards a corner of the battlefield effectively removing them from the game. Imagine Gotrek taunted by a Shaman for 3 rounds before he can finally get rid of him… Of course, knowing it is also important as an adversary so that you avoid placing slow or important units within 12” of the edges.Heroic Willpower: one non-Wizard hero can attempt to dispel or unbind a spell for that phase like he was a wizard. The army list has a unique organization in this book. In 6th Edition the troops of each army were broken into Core Units, Special Units, and Rare Units. The point value of the army determined how many of each you could take. For Hordes of Chaos the choice of a Mortal or Daemonic General determines which units are core or special; with a Mortal General mortal units become Core and daemonic units become Special, with a Daemonic General daemonic units are Core and mortal units Special. The 2003 Beasts of Chaos book follows the same scheme; with it you can add Beast Units to your Hordes of Chaos army as a Special Unit, or use Mortal and Daemonic Units under your Beast General as Special Units. Marks of the Dark Gods The Beast of Chaos Tzaangor Shaman represents the avian side of the army, the one related to Tzeentch. The only buff that provides to the other Tzaangors is limited to resurrecting up to 3 models from a nearby Beast of Chaos Tzaangor unit as long as the spell Boon of Mutation slays as many enemies.
