Our butane regulators are blue in colour to match butane gas cylinders and our propane regulators are red in colour to match the red propane gas cylinders. You can’t mix and match propane and butane bottles and regulators - as you’ve found out, 2 different systems and one won’t fit the other If bbq instructions tell you to use propane, then that’s what you need to use and the supplied hose and regulator will fit a propane bottle Gas bottles come in different sizes and are color coded for the type of gas. In the UK, Butane is usually in blue bottles and Propane in red cylinders. Butane bottles use a clip-on regulator with a standard internal valve size of 21mm, while Propane bottles use a screw-on regulator that needs to be tightened with a spanner. There is also a new format for Propane called Patio Gas, which is in green bottles and uses a 27mm clip-on regulator. This means that it is not possible to connect a Butane regulator to a Propane bottle or vice versa. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) comes in two types: Propane and Butane. These types of gas can be distinguished by their different colored bottles and use different connections. Our gas burners will work with either Propane or Butane. Our gas burners are designed to work with three different types of gas: Natural Gas, Propane, and Butane. If you are new to using gas appliances, the connections required for the paella gas burners may seem confusing. However, we are here to help.
