About this deal

Lotus Eater -> In my opinion the best song of the album. The song starts with blastpit and clean progressive vocals on it! The brutal parts are also there. As akerfeldt said thissong is what opeth is today. the jazzy/funky part on “The Lotus Eater”. But there are also lots of other nice moments, they are almost countless. All except noted: "Opeth | full Official Chart history". Official Charts Company . Retrieved 5 October 2019. Riessinger, Bianca (29 September 2010). We had some wine and did a metal quiz. I was the "host" and Per won easily over the other uneducated bunch.

Artist Chart History – Opeth". Billboard.com. Archived from the original on 2008-01-19 . Retrieved 2009-04-19. For the first time in years we actually had a good time recording this record. Everyone was in high spirits. Even though we somewhat feel we have something to prove after all the shit that's happened, everyone was calm and we just concentrated on nailing some classic takes, you know.Following a few live dates in Europe, Opeth returned to Studio Fredman to begin work on its next album, with Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson producing. The band sought to recreate the recording experience of Still Life, and again entered the studio with minimal rehearsals, and no lyrics written. "This time it was tough," Åkerfeldt said, "I feel pleasantly blown away by the immense result, though. It was indeed worth the effort." [24] Wilson also pushed the band to expand its sound, incorporating new sounds and production techniques. "Steve guided us into the realms of 'strange' noises for guitars and voice", Åkerfeldt said. [24]

The DVD is very nice as well, lots of interviews, rehersal footage and studio performing by Martin Axenrot (alone) and the two guitars (Mikael Åkerfeldt acoustic and Fredrik Åkesson electric), like that one particularly. OPETH Enlists Ex-PARADISE LOST Drummer WALTTERI VÄYRYNEN". Blabbermouth.net. 9 September 2022 . Retrieved 9 September 2022.The band themselves is not bad in any way. It's just that this album saw a real decrease in the quality of the music being put out by the band. The bottom line is that this album was a disappointment compared to their last album. It still had some dignified moments which is more than I can say for Heritage and I do admit that if I were trying to get someone into Opeth's music, I would probably start with this album. Most people who are not metalheads might find some enjoyment in the slower moments and it would get them used to Mikael's growling. Still, as an Opeth fan, I don't find much enjoyment in listening to this album. Tobias Zywietz. "Chart Log UK: The O – Ozric Tentacles". Zobbel. Archived from the original on 19 July 2011 .
