If you forget doses often, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. You could also ask your pharmacist for advice on other ways to help you remember to take your medicine. What if I take too much? This product may react with other medications (including digoxin, iron, pazopanib, tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin), preventing them from being fully absorbed by your body. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about how to schedule your medications to prevent this problem.

Each 4 tablet dose contains 300 mg (7.5 mmol) of calcium. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi. This product is considered high in sodium. This should be particularly taken into account for those on a low salt diet (e.g. in some cases of congestive heart failure and renal impairment). This medicinal product contains 223.56 mg (9.72 mmol) sodium per 4 tablet dose, equivalent to 11.18 % of the WHO recommended maximum daily intake for sodium. Get medical help right away if you have any very serious side effects, including: slow/shallow breathing, slow/irregular heartbeat, mental/mood changes (such as confusion), deep sleep, pain with urination. This medicinal product contains 53.22 mg sodium per tablet, equivalent to 2.7% of the WHO recommended maximum daily intake for sodium.

If symptoms persist, or treatment is required for more than 7 days continuously, medical advice should be sought. If you are taking the chewable tablets, chew thoroughly before swallowing, then drink a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters).

Treatment of children younger than 12 years of age is not generally recommended, except on medical advice. Nausea, constipation, diarrhea, or headache may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. You'll usually take Gaviscon tablets and liquid up to 4 times a day. It's best to take it after meals and at bedtime. This is usually when the pain and discomfort is at its worst. But if your doctor has prescribed Gaviscon, take it when they tell you to. If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.If you often have heartburn or indigestion, take Gaviscon regularly after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times a day, whether or not you have symptoms.

Potassium: This medicine contains potassium 1.01 mmol (39.43 mg) per tablet. To be taken into consideration by patients with reduced kidney function or patients on a controlled potassium diet. Mix Gaviscon powder (for babies and children under 2) with cool, boiled water or formula milk. Dosage Some medicines must not be taken at the same time as Gaviscon. This is because the medicines can affect how the other medicine works. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/ tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.The magnesium in this product can cause diarrhea. Using an antacid that contains only aluminum along with this product can help control diarrhea. The aluminum in this product can cause constipation. To minimize constipation, drink plenty of fluids and exercise. Diarrhea is more common with this product than constipation.
