I am so enthralled with Zade and Addie. This continuation and completion to the Cat and Mouse duet was beautiful and heartbreaking in soo many ways. With that in mind, this book was dark to another level in comparison to the first and like stated above The interactions between the cat and mouse are the core of the cat and mouse duet. Their relationship is marked by a delicate balance of power dynamics. While the cat seeks to catch and devour the mouse, the mouse consistently outwits the cat, leading to a comedic and thrilling chase. These interactions create a unique chemistry between the characters, as the cat continually devises new strategies to catch the elusive mouse, only to be met with clever evasion. Notable Cat and Mouse Duos The vigilante stuff was pretty fun, though it would have been better if the hero’s reason for risking his life wasn’t just ‘cause I like to kill bad people’. Also, do I give a shit about the heroine’s murdered grannie? Not at all, yet trying to figure out who the killer is, is a large part of this book.UNKNOWN: Sneaking off with random men, little mouse? If I catch his hands anywhere near you, they’ll end up in your mailbox by morning. there’s so many one liners that are just too hilarious for me to ignore so here are some of my favorites DNF at 55% {EDIT *SpongeBob 12 hours later*- I decided to skim the rest so I could write a proper review (it’s amazing how fast you can read when you skip over a bunch of stuff😍), specifically for Gigi's murder investigation and the “big cliffhanger”. I googled spoilers too. Now I’m truly FREE and I can move on🙏. Btw, I saw someone comment on ig today “Zade is the standard” and I want to CRY😭}.

But one of the hard limits is trying to excuse the behavior, and that's what this book does at every turn. Hunting Adeline is faster-paced than the first book and I felt like I flew through the book even though it was about a couple of hours longer than the previous book. There is another character that appears in both books that I am very interested in and I also wish she gets her own HEA. OVERALL THOUGHTS

If you enjoyed this one, take a gander to my next standalone, Does It Hurt? It's an enemies to lovers psych thriller, and I'm so very excited for you to meet Enzo and Sawyer! The worst thing about this book, for me, is how overly corny it is in its attempt to justify itself. Lastly, I did dnf this book, and I guess it is possible for it to get better (i think i heard the second book is better) but I'm really not interested in giving this book another chance. And that's ignoring the fact that this book is so unnecessarily long. Thank you to Neela for not only rec'ing this book, but for all the funny ass texts about this book that hopefully never get out. For the sake of both our reputations 🖤🐀 As an avid romance reader, this one was bound to fall short for me. Although it continues to fall under the dark romance category, it was more of a thriller. This book will be much more enjoyable to those who enjoy majority of a thriller element than romance.

Hunting Adeline is darker and even more disturbing than the first book. I even had to skip a couple of scenes because they were so descriptive and extremely disturbing. Trigger warnings for r*pe, sexual, and physical abuse. Adeline is someone I liked instantly. She has life to her, personality but the only thing that kind of bugged me a bit was how questionable her life choices were at times. Seriously, the girl had a death wish. Are we really surprised by the ending?🥲 Now, I'm a girl who's seeking refuge in a decrepit lighthouse with a man who loathes me almost as much as he craves me. He wants to hurt me, but the old caretaker of the abandoned island may have intentions far more sinister. The first book of this series was a dark romance. This book, the second, was just dark. Very little romance to speak of. I truly don't know how to put into words how much I LOVE this book and sincerely this entire duet. This is a masterpiece and I have been putting off writing this review because this one is hard for me to write.

If you do want to read a good gun sex scene, you should look into Her Soul for Revenge. Not only is it incredibly hot, well drawn out, with great dialogue and variety, but it also has a fantastic character dynamic. The fmc in that book is so much more badass, so the playing field is even and so much more fun. Both characters take part in the teasing and dirty talk and ugh, let me tell you, it was years better than the sex scene in this one. The plot was interesting enough that I was able to finish reading Haunting Adeline even though some of the scenes left a bad taste in my mouth. The cat, often portrayed as the antagonist in the cat and mouse duet, represents the predator in the natural world. With its keen sense of sight, stealthy movements, and sharp claws, the cat embodies the essence of a hunter. However, beyond its predatory nature, the cat often carries a range of contrasting characteristics. It can be portrayed as crafty, sly, and intelligent, adding depth to its character and making the chase more thrilling. Character Profiles: The Mouse Omg, she's not like other girls!!! And to think that I thought I couldn't possibly hate this fmc more and she pulls the 'i'm not like other girls' line. The plot itself was interesting. There was a lot of intrigue going on and the smut made my pussy throb and my sheets soaked. I couldn’t stop reading it chapter after chapter. If it wasn’t for my new meds, I would’ve finished the book in 2 days.
