About this deal

I am thirteen and I have just read this amazing book, before I get started on my review I would like to say how fantastic this book was to read - I read it for exactly three hours straight since the moment I got it. He gets caught up in a relationship with Marigold Flowers, a strange woman with a passion for dollhouses. As the series develops, so do the cast of characters in Adrian’s life (helpfully detailed in the back of these editions).

The same school year as David Cameron, other notable births that year include Nick Clegg, Ed Balls, Noel Gallagher and the rather Pandora-esque actress Tara Fitzgerald. In 2011, Townsend published a short Adrian Mole piece that tied into the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The series satirises human pretensions, and especially, in the first couple of volumes, teenage pretensions. In between the ups and downs of his relationship with the divine Pandora and worrying that his genius is going unrecognized, Adrian Mole chronicles the pains and pleasures of a misspent adolescence. I enjoyed Adrian the first time through but, as an adolescent girl, I probably viewed him a bit more condescendingly than I would now! This is all to the good; a teenager whose reaction to Animal Farm is to ponder becoming a vet (later amended to boycotting bacon) is amusing; a grown man – and father to children from various different mothers – showing such vapidity would just be sad. However, the real drama is at home, where his parents drink too much and smoke too much and laugh too loud.

Writing candidly about his parents’ marital troubles, the dog, his life as a tortured poet and ‘misunderstood intellectual’, Adrian’s painfully honest diary is still hilarious and compelling reading thirty years after it first appeared. Truth be told, I haven't read any Adrian Mole since I was about 12, and I can't really remember what I thought. Adrian Mole: The Lost Years includes The True Confessions and The Wilderness Years, and the bonus story "Adrian Mole and the Small Amphibians". Our Adult Fiction Books, Range includes Classics Novels, Comic Books, Crime, Thriller, Mystery Novels, General Fiction, Horror, Romance, Science Fiction and War. And the love of his life, Pandora Braithwaite, is too busy as the newly elected MP for Ashby-de-la-Zouch to notice him.The novels have been adapted for theatre, television, and radio with the first of the series serialized on the radio. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition with some very light pushing at the spine tips and a little light toning to the spine. I still intend to read the following volumes of the series, but my main purpose will be to find out whether Adrian ever removes his head from his *cough* ahem.
