He couldn't leave her to her fate, so he put her on his bike and then, with the help of local vets, nursed her back to health.

The bond the two pair is so precious and it is inspiring how good the people were that he encountered offering him a place to stay, food, etc. People approached him, sometimes in the middle of nowhere, because they recognised him from social media. I've got a whole new respect for the author after hearing about his passion for environmental and animal-related causes, and I'm so happy he's been able to make positive changes in the world around him.

The writing is more like people you just met at a hostel telling you about their travels after a few pints. Uplifting, inspirational, heartwarming, and just about every other adjective you can think of that expresses a superlative, this beautiful book is ultimately an extraordinary love story. When you reach the part where the kitten falls asleep in the nape of Dean's neck it will melt your heart. Dean also reinforces my ultimate dream to have an adventure cat to take on hikes and bike rides and boat rides.

Dean's video of his first meeting with Nala was featured on the Dodo and international news media and has now been viewed over twenty million times. I was one of the people who subscribed to his Instagram after watching a Dodo video and by that time his account was a few years old already, so it was nice to be able to catch up with him via this book of his adventures prior to my following him. Three months after leaving home, on a remote road in the mountains between Montenegro and Bosnia, he came across an abandoned kitten.
