It is always a fabulous feeling to be settling down with a new Jill Mansell book, and this one is certainly up there with her very best.

The synopsis sounded brilliant, but once I started to reading I realised there was more to this book that meets the eye. The story flowed well and with added bonus of the romantic adventures of some their friends and family. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC. This is the first Jill Mansell book I’ve read and I enjoyed learning about Shay and Didi’s teenage romance, the cause of their break up and what happened when they met 13 years later.Het verhaal was best voorspelbaar, maar er gebeurde veel en het was leuk om te lezen op welke manier mijn voorspellingen uitkwamen. Jill’s personal favourite amongst her novels is THREE AMAZING THINGS ABOUT YOU, which is about cystic fibrosis and organ donation; to her great delight, many people have joined the organ donor register as a direct result of reading this novel.

Her style isn't flashy: there is no coy "meet-cute", no extraneous and unnecessary detailed description of what people are wearing or eating, it doesn't rely on trite and banal "witty" banter, she doesn't beat the reader over the head with word-count-increasing extraneous repetition and she isn't trying to impress me with arcane "literary" vocabulary and precious prose, and finally she doesn't fill the story with steamy sex scenes that I usually skip over because they are often cliché. Didi and Shay were friends who went on one last group trip abroad before they all went their separate ways for uni, etc.This starts on a snowy, winter night in Venice, a completely magical night and a start that ensured I was instantly hooked. All of the characters have a role to play and all of them have a plot thread and their chance to shine. Set in fictional Elliscombe in the Cotswolds, And Now You’re Back tells the story of Didi and Shay who were in a relationship until Shay just upped and left without saying goodbye. But I knew that I had to be patient because there would probably be more flashbacks to take me back to that adorable couple falling in love for the first time.

There were some funny parts too and one of my highlights was Rosa climbing over the wall of her old house with Red.
