About this deal

The Washington Post: "The amazingly prolific and astonishingly sophisticated James Hamilton-Paterson has given us another novel, as offbeat and unexpected as any of the rest. This week, Grace and YouTuber/sexpert Hannah Witton talk about the stigmas surrounding sex, orgasms, and our bodies, before delving into your voicenotes.

Loved how this book tackles the various versions of shame (about sex, trauma, body hair, weight, popularity, appearance, professionalism) instilled in young women. I really enjoyed this, and actually found myself nodding in agreement with some of the experiences Grace talks about. This book for me is hilarious whilst still being a little bit poignant and makes me wish Grace Campbell were my friend. It perfectly captured the mess that is growing up and trying to find yourself and fit in, a lot of rejection and jealously, and endless list of terrible decisions and making the same mistakes repeatedly.Another reason I related so much to the book was that there’s a self-awareness that runs throughout the chapters, acknowledging the intersectionality of women and their experiences, the common grounds and the vast differences across socioeconomic backgrounds, racial identities, sexualities and beyond. Grace breaks that barrier by speaking openly about her shame of her own body, how her sexual experiences helped shaped her as well as covering topics such as STD's, sex education, porn and consent. Such an honest and loving and relatable book that doesn't try to be sophisticated and in the process becomes sophisticated in its unpretentiousness and its raw tone. I’m a brown 26 year-old girl living in Bradford and my dad is nowhere near as influential (thank god?

It started as a 2 for me, was definitely 4 of 5 in parts, but averaged at 3 (which I consider good), all because in portions I found it slightly repetitive. There’s frequent jabs at the stiff upper lips of Etonians, middle-aged white men oblivious to their privilege and stale conquests who make you feel like shit for a bit, but serve their ultimate purpose when you’re going through a glow-up, as a solid reminder of what not to settle for. Grace explores some excruciating topics through her own experiences, however there are stark contrasts to those I have read already.

This week, Grace and Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing ditch the voice notes and have a long talk about their experiences with anxiety, mental health and reality TV, ways to find happiness, and tricks to deal with constipation.

She is a chaotic force of nature and a committed over-sharer who is on a constant, often hilarious, mission to undermine the patriarchy. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). p. 23) and then goes onto highlight every instance of this disgraced PM’s attempts to derail her childhood. This podcast is a lovely combination of talking about issues associated with shame in a candid way, whilst having great guests and lots of laughs too.I was straight up chuckling and laugh(snort)ing to myself at some of her incredible punch lines and one liners in a way that I wished I had come up with them (and I am obviously no comedian).

She is also Alistair Campbell’s daughter which, I can’t lie, did leave me a little scared to read the book. Access Codes: Unless the book is described as "New," please assume that the book does *not* have an access code. I love her ability to talk about how messy anxiety and depression can be, and how utterly normal it is to consider medication for such ailments.the real driving force behind this book is the power of friendship, particularly with women and LGBTQ+ people, which was beautifully articulated.
