About this deal

The age-gap trope is usually a hit or miss for me, but in this case, it works perfectly because both characters are of equal maturity levels. Meyer and his daughter Hazel have been everything to Farley since they came into her life three years ago, So, stakes are high when it is not only her career, but both of those relationships on the line. And I loved how Meyer was kind of pining the whole time for Farley and his character was just THE BEST. Although it shifted abruptly from fake to real dating, it makes sense since both of them were hesitant to make the first move from the start. Especially, when the woman who has always been the planner down to every minute detail falls ill, only five days before the holiday.

My favorite comedienne, one of the most famous in the country—who has written for wildly successful shows and has hosted Saturday Night Live—is here and she is smiling in my direction. She just landed a big tour with well known comedians and is told that it would look good to get publicity if her and Meyer "fake dated" which Meyer agrees to. So I was so proud of him when he realizes what he wants career and relationship-wise and decides to go for it.

In lieu of flowers, please send cash…Meyer and his daughter Hazel have been everything to her since they came into her life three years ago. There is something about a book where two people are absolutely and unbelievably clueless to one another’s feelings for each other. To the women who, in their quiet moments, still think back on their social interactions and wonder if they really are too much, if they should feel embarrassed, or ashamed.

It’s about the little moments that turn into sharing umbrellas while we hold on for dear life when things don’t make sense. Oh my god, I wish I could spend more time with them but the way this book was eating me up made it impossible. Sparks fly between a die-hard romantic and a sexy cynic in this fresh, funny romance from USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke. There are funny moments paired with shots of angst, and the strong bond between the characters was a major win. The only thing she loves more than the rush of telling jokes in front of a revved-up audience is her hot older manager Meyer, though he doesn’t have a clue. They truly do want what’s best for each other, so it made sense that they’ve never crossed the line.

It’s a slow burn romance with swoony feelings throughout, and these two characters complement each other perfectly. It’s a story that the author wrote for all the women that society deem as “too much” or “too offensive. After watching her most recent stand-up special on Netflix and hearing SO many of the same kinds of stories or jokes (even down to dating older guys who carry the right pain meds with them haha), I was like OMG IT IS FARLEY! I'm super critical of contemporary romances, so when I say I LOVE this book, you better believe I mean it! I suppose drawing an insightful comparison between the fruits of a misguided dairy binge and the works of Jackson Pollock was quite possibly Too Much.

This is the only reason why, when the biggest opportunity of Farley’s career includes thrusting him back into the spotlight to stir up publicity, he agrees— despite his grumpiness, his protectiveness over Hazel, and his disdain for public attention. When helping her includes taking those barriers down, all those funny feelings start coming out into the open, and it quickly begins to feel like anything but a joke. Whilst Meyer helps Farley their barriers come down and feelings start coming out into the open where it starts to feel like anything but a joke. Keeping her feelings hidden from him is agony (a tragedy, even―in lieu of flowers, please send cash…) but Meyer has been Farley’s closest and most treasured friend, not to mention vital to the trajectory of her career.
