I'm not disappointed, the citrus hint from orange flower w/ the woody- floral-amber composition is going layer beautifully with Stars. However, on spraying it for myself, I discovered that the first immediate scent was a metallic, sharp, cheap smelling sticky sweetness that had no complexity whatsoever. He stays on his clothes a little longer - and with a lot of goodwill you can still smell a nuance of Neroli the next day - provided you sniff around in the shallows of his polo a few times. Once AllSaints Sunset Riot has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a strong projection, very sweet, amber, orange blossom, and pink pepper fragrance with woody and soft floral accords. I've been in dentist's offices forever and they smell like old nasty cloves, burnt tooth enamel, pain and bitter disappointment and despair when they see the bill!
But that’s as much as I will say, as a fragrance on its own it doesn’t smell sharp or pungent or synthetic whatever they say… in the air it smells GOOD. The scent reminds me of In The Stars and a bit like the discontinued August from Hollister (not listed in database).To me, it smells like BR540 extrait got together with By the Fireplace, but created a blend that is quieter and softer than either one of them on their own. This one adds some fresh orange blossom gives the opening a slight resemblance of a fresh summer cologne.
In the final dry down a lovely antique rose (don't be afraid of the rose, its not prominent) with a touch of pepper joins the chorus to complete this stunner in a truly balanced finish. First of all: I own and love Baccarat Rouge 540 EdP, so I was all the more excited about Sunset Riot.Surprised the votes for longevity no being great, I get a good 10 hours and a great projection for 3 or 4 hours. But other than that, once you've tried the others you might quickly find that Sunset Riot is a let down, both in terms of how it smells in comparison to the others, and the fact that it isn't the strongest and longest lasting. I'm getting a little tired of this scent profile as it's everywhere at the moment, but that's not the fragrance's fault. I love pink pepper and citrus in my fragrances and I love the sweetness in BR540 and this fragrance gives me that with a musky, masculine, fresh, citrusy punch. But now to the Sunset riot : he has for me absolutely a raison d'être even without being degraded only to the Dupe. It adds a bit of refinement to a very sweet fragrance, makes it a bit more grown up but still kind of punk. Upon wearing the tester it made me feel really feminine and sexy, even though I’d say this scent leans more unisex.
The kind of smell they might give to furniture you’d find in a Primary (‘elementary’ for those in the colonies) school year one (1st grade? This opens up with a more fresh blast and stays a while and the sweetness stays behind the whole time throughout its life. At first sniff I got the fresh citrus and musk in this fragrance and could not for the life of me figure out why this was being compared to BR540. Like walking into a dentist or doctor's office and having that plasticy smell of band aids and what not, but amplified by 1K!
