About this deal

Hilarious and kind of heartwarming, and the combination of Nat's unique way with words and his reassuring and empathetic approach to problems is on show at its fullest here. No part of our weird world and strange behavior is spared as our long-haired guru tells us what he reckons about it all – and amps up the flavor with some eye-watering stories from his early years before a sweary video about pasta sauce shot him to global fame. Nat’s platform has enabled him to hold up a tongue-in-cheek mirror to antiquated cultural norms, to promote a little kindness and to have a chat about his own battle with mental health.

Nat makes abundant use of Aussie slang--and I think this is fine, because its intended audience is Australian fans. It's worth reading for his interesting life story but probably could have been done really well in 100 pages. He’s ran into many people over the years that have certainly hindered and not helped, but the honesty in which he tells his story is very Nat-esque. We hear about his life and times and I’m really happy that for all the laughs that came with it; there was an emphasis on mental health. There’s enough knowledge contained in here to make you feel better about yourself (without classing it as a self help book) a fair bit of humour, directed at himself as well as others and the basic recipes that have made Nat the “champion” well needed during this shitty 2020.To the point, no holds barred and swearing like a trooper, this author/speaker/creator/mental health advocate wants folk out there to know it’s ok not to be ok, and to listen to those they need to and to stay away from the rest. It is part memoir, part self-help book filled with the internal conflict of someone who has built a career out of hanging shit on stuff but believes it's not fair to make fun of people and if something makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone else, go for it. I came across Nat when one of his videos was suggested to me on TikTok, I was instantly in love with his personality and way of explaining things, so when I saw he had a book out I raced to get it, I was not disappointed the way he explained mental illnesses and talked about his personal experiences it just felt like he was talking straight to me. With Nat’s nine no-nonsense rules, you’ll be on the road to being a better d*ckhead faster than you can say ‘get in the bin’ to jar sauce.

In response to the craziness he was seeing when COVID-19 crashed the party, Nat waged a war against processed food and launched a no-nonsense instructional video for one of his tried and true recipes.and his combination of constant swearing, metalhead appearance, and surprisingly useful cooking advice won me over. Uncook Yourself: A Ratbag’s Rules for Life was maybe perhaps not a book that I expected to see in an audiobook format.
