About this deal

Now, Nina Ricci unveils a new limited edition of its legendary fragrance: a new scent radiating with light in a precious bottle revisited by Alix D. I took four years of French in high school, so the name L’Air du Temps ( The Air of Time) sounded ‘light’ enough, and the bottle was charming, but when I sprayed the perfume on my wrist (which unfortunately blasted the sleeve of my wool sweater), I was immediately offended by the stringent floral and aldehyde steaming from my arm. Or the waft of the cloves as she put her pearls on me as something old and borrowed on my wedding say and again the handkerchief when I knew it was time for divorce! While the modern version of LdT is not as a strong as I remember it is still an absolutely beautiful fragrance, very feminine and warm while being elegant. It was gifted by my mother in law, and I thought at best it would just be a pretty bottle on the vanity.

Created in Paris in 1948, and reflecting the optimistic era that followed the war, the scent’s fragrant bouquet is a feminine ode to joy. I save this gem and layer over Ylang-Ylang, cedarwood and sandalwood essential oils and sometimes Heaven Sent for extra wood, powder, flowers and soap, on the nights I miss her the most. Very, very complex scent in my opinion, but something tells me that some of the different parts of this perfume simply don't belong together. Well, Nina Ricci attempted exactly that back in 1948, bottling up the common scents of the post-war era to celebrate ‘the mood of the times’ which is the direct translation of ‘L’air Du Temps. With soft musk and delicate neroli, this new perfume radiates purity from the top notes right down to the base.

I noticed that another recent reviewer who hated this new formulation was wearing Apres l'Ondee as she reviewed, like me; when you have a beauty like that on, this perfume's contrast is more glaring. The top notes of L’Air du Temps Eau de Parfum reveal the luminous freshness of bergamot from Italy combined with the clove accents of pink carnation, creating the fragrance’s unique spicy-floral signature. Perfumes with natural ingredients often smell different in batches based on the source of the ingredients, while synthetic ingredients usually have consistency in their smell and lasts longer.Reynis founded her eponymous brand in 2011, creating elegant, timeless pieces inspired by treasures she finds from history. The timeless fragrance L\'Air du temps by Nina Ricci that brought a fame to the Ricci house became and remains until today one of the greatest fragrance creations.
