Plenty of diagrams, cross sectional diagrams and references to the diagrams so you know what you're looking at and also that you know what you're reading if it is describing a difficult-to-explain-without-diagrams part/component or process. The English is not too complicated which can be an incredibly headache for people who just want to sit and read to catch up but end up with a book that had a sentence within a sentence that digresses mid-sentence. Each edition is well written and, I think, with the car enthusiast in mind as opposed to the professional reader.

It covers the developments of mechanical systems, whilst also providing an appreciation of the applicable electronic systems that are an everyday part of the technicians work. You don't have to learn everything, but it does teach you information that as a consumer you should know. The books, of which I believe there are currently 6 per edition, are not updated very often and seldom at the same time. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications, primarily focusing on engine and vehicle technology. Apart from the fact that it is Americanised: Britain and America have their own terminology regarding the subject, so it can be slightly confusing if you haven't got a lecturer to set you straight. The book starts you off with the history of cars and then dives right in with the 1st topic, giving colour pictures and excellent diagrams all described so even a dummy such as myself can get it once you have the basics down experience in the field will take you the rest but it's nice to have a starting block.I bought the Haynes Manual for my MX5 with the real intention of carrying out work but could not penetrate it's language. When exploring the courses we have available, you may see a fee attached but you’re more than likely to be eligible for a fully-funded enrolment!

As a beginner to moderately experienced home car mechanic, I have learnt quite a bit from this book. Otherwise mechanics can take advantage of you - if you don't know what a spark plug is, and does, you can be taken to the cleaners by a shady mechanic!Well its a book so I got no problem with it because the availability was enough for me but I would've appreciated it more if they have delivered me a new one.
