The Bold New Take on The Beloved Classic “The Color Purple” Debuts on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD March 12th! It wasn’t shot in 4K, after all, and previous experience of this season via broadcast and Blu-ray hadn’t exactly blown me away on the picture quality front.

If something pops up in the meantime and I find there are any issues with subsequent viewings or others reporting such, you have my promise I will update this review immediately with said new information. As stated prior the above audio score and related critique of how things sound down below are based solely upon my viewings against a cumulative average curve of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentations of HBO’s Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection. seasons of the beloved series in 4K UHD, with the exception of Game of Thrones: The Complete Eighth Season 4K late last year. and I'd say that while things are better in seasons two and three, they're not quite at the lustrous levels seen throughout the later seasons). As betrayal, lust, intrigue and supernatural forces shake the four corners of the Kingdoms, their bloody struggle for the Iron Throne will have unforeseen and far-reaching consequences. It was only from the third season that 4K became more or less the standard for mastering Game of Thrones. It’s a shame that this content isn’t included on the 4K set, but you should be aware that most of it is available for free viewing on YouTube (at least some of it—and actually quite a lot more—on HBO’s official Game of Thrones channel). What’s worse, choices were made with one of those characters in particular that seemed entirely out of character, unsupported by what viewers had seen in previous seasons.

Although all armies appear to be rivals they will have to come together to have any chance of defeating the threat and staying alive against the vast Army of The Dead but will they all rally to the cause ? But it’ll be worth the effort, because there have been few examples of Blu-ray living up to its promise the way it does here. Besides the reds and fiery moments the blue eyes of Sansa and the Whitewalkers in Season 7 are quite striking and rich too.dba Freestar (“Freestar”) for the purposes of placing certain advertising on the site, and Freestar will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. This 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray box set contains a total of 33 Discs (23 BD-100s, 7 BD-66s, 3 BD-50s) and houses hours upon hours of bonus material (15 to be exact) not to mention the complete 73 episodes (75 hours worth) in pristine 4K Ultra HD picture and Dolby Atmos surround sound plus a redemption code for Digital Copies to enjoy anywhere you want. Thankfully I have covered every Blu-ray release of the show so there’s that and I’ll be providing you pertinent URL links to all the coverage so you won’t miss a beat here. Beyond that, virtually every other special feature that HBO has created for this series on disc over the years seems to be included here on the 4K set. You are getting one of the most amazing ever shows on television in respect to breadth of storytelling, production value, cinematography, acting, dragons and so much more.

The first time you see Ned Stark’s outfit you’ll gape in awe at the amount of detail revealed with every strand. Those three discs are 1080p but still look good, and upscale very well on any decent Blu-ray player. However, from our observation of Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection, this discrepancy doesn’t show.Dialogue is clear and clean, and Ramin Djawadi’s iconic theme and lush compositions have fine clarity and fidelity. There’s just an overwhelming sense of immersion throughout even in the CGI moments like when Daenerys is looking over a cliff at a sea of ships. Game of Thrones: Reunion Special: A two-part reunion show shot live in Belfast with the cast, both past and present, hosted by Conan O’Brien and available exclusively on these complete series collections. Daylight exteriors look much more life like too - and again this enhancement is delivered sensitively enough to stop the image from looking unnaturally stretched or making dark foreground objects look like empty silhouettes.

But I can only report what I see, which is that the picture routinely looks higher in resolution than the HD Blu-ray. This is quite an expensive box set but it's worth every penny, especially if you can get a Zavvi discount.

AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM The DC Super Hero’s Action-Packed Adventure Debuts on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 12th! Be it in the pores, blemishes and freckles of the actors’ faces; the rich luster of all the manly leathery coats; the sheen of horses; or the hairs of the series’ endless collection of beards, pony tails and fur collars. It will be interesting to see whether the addition of a HDR stream will make some details more discernible, following complaints from viewers when the episode originally aired in 2019. Beyond Dolby Vision the 4K Ultra HD Discs also feature Dolby Atmos surround tracks plus the inclusion of over 15 hours of bonus features originally released on the 2019 Game of Thrones: The Complete Series and The Complete Collection (Limited Collector’s Edition) Blu-ray sets.
