Common materials include PLA, ABS, PETG, and TPU, but some printers can handle more advanced materials like nylon or metal-infused filaments. Elegoo is a very reputable firm in the resin 3D printing space, and the Mars 2 Pro and Mars 3 are often recommended printers for beginners – whether that is for printing miniatures or other small things where details are important. And that small cheap 4k screen will produce a better quality model than a big 4k screen with a bigger build bed.
Elegoo will say that the light of the Mars 3’s is more consistent than earlier versions, which means that the details of your models will come out more crisp and clean. It is hard to test, since we do not have a version of the printer and screen with the old light to test versus the new light. This model was too large for this printer at the full size, so I chose Scale to fit, which shrank the model to around 46% of the original size. An FDM (fused deposition modelling) printer is a 3D printer that can be used to produce fine details with rapid printing. You have to find other sources of information, and while they are readily available (and some are great), if you want help straight from the manufacturer, Elegoo is not the place.With a big printer, it is harder to level the build plate exactly, they can have more wobble when printing and the FEP are bigger (giving various problems when the print has to be pulled off that big FEP).
These types of printers are likely to be first time 3D resin printer purchases, so there is no reason to make the entry into printing cost more than it should. I think instead of some carbon stuff and anti-scratch, auto levelling would be a good “pro feature” instead. But the Mars 2 Pro was printing at a layer height of 50 microns and the Mars 3 Pro was printing at a layer height of 35 microns and taking advantage of TSMC settings.
Otherwise raise or lower the platform using the onscreen controls and tug at the paper again until you feel the right level of resistance. I’ve been using Elegoo printers since the very first Mars printer came out and these machines have come a long way. For the Mars 3 Pro, I knew I would need to scale the model down somewhat and I wanted to get the largest size that would print comfortably, so I ended printing this at a 30 degree angle scaled to 80%. It also gives more surface area for supports to hold on so the model is less likely to fall during printing. I noticed on the product page for the Wash and Cure stations that it recommends avoiding using the rinse tank for the water washable resins because they do not provide adequate flow to rinse that type of resin off.
This “fully built” approach is very common with resin printers, but if you are used to FDM printers that might not be something you expect (as they often come in kits that need assembly). With the exception of some resin to print with and some alcohol to clean the print with after printing, everything else you will need for your first prints are included.
