About this deal

Guardian A magical story for young readers from the author of Howl’s Moving Castle and Charmed Life, Diana Wynne Jones. Earwig and the Witch' Review: Studio Ghibli's First Computer-Generated Feature Is an Unholy Eyesore". With the help of a talking cat and a spell or two, Earwig means to give that nasty witch a jolly big surprise!

I could easily see myself several years ago (well, quite a bit more than several but let's not get into that! A cute, early grade children's chapter book that tells the story of raucous orphan Earwig who wants to learn magic so she can make her new foster parents bow to her will.Earwig is a confident and controlling orphan who attempts to avoid adoption because she has created a situation of control at her current orphanage. Una storiella come se ne trovano tante su una ragazzina apprendista strega… avrà a che fare con un'altra strega - lei sì davvero cattiva, un demone, e un gatto. In the film there was a scene where the band is playing the song, Mandrake playing keyboard, Red headed witch singing and playing guitar and Bella playing drums but there is also an unnamed brown haired male bassist, just wondering if he is also in the book.

Things are soon to change though as one day a rather strange couple, Bella Yaga and the Mandrake, come to look for a child to foster and the one they pick is Earwig! Summary: A lovely magical story, perfect to introduce younger readers to the delights of Diana Wynne Jones' writing. After that, the ending was a bit of a let down (Earwig kind of accidentally inspires someone to help her instead of fixing things herself). I’ve never really known who earwig was since her mum Only left a noté from her Only saying earwigs name and i think about 13 witches were after her. The promo image does not appeal to me at all so it's interesting that it was not actually in the film.A young middle grade novel by World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievementwinner Diana Wynne Jones, beautifully illustrated in black and white by Caldecott Medalist Paul O. Directed by Gorō Miyazaki, the film was announced as the first full 3D CG animated film by Studio Ghibli and was scheduled for a television premiere on NHK in late 2020. Charmed Life', the first book in the Chrestomanci series, won the 1977 Guardian Award for Children's Books.
