About this deal

One day, she is raped by two brutal men, who are led to her by the village idiot, who thought her a faery. Even though Sorcha is very much a pagan, with her beliefs about the spirits of the woods and her interactions with trees and herbs intimately bound up with her faith, and she is largely ignorant of Christian beliefs, the kindly old hermit Father Brian who taught Sorcha and her brothers to read is a Christian, a fact which Sorcha also simply accepts.

After the birth of baby Finbar, everyone is relieved to see that mother and child are both healthy and safe—until the newborn disappears suddenly while Clodagh is babysitting him.Father would be seated in his great oak chair, his men around him at a respectful distance, the dogs at his feet, relaxed but watchful.

Soon she will find herself torn between her duty to break the curse, and a growing, forbidden love for the warlord who is her captor. Exiled from Sevenwaters and cast out into the forest, she falls into the hands of the feared enemy and is torn between a life she has known and a love that only comes once. And then Red goes and proves her right by not accepting the magic that happened right in front of his eyes. Seer of Sevenwaters follows Sibeal's (pronounced Shi-bail) last summer on Inis Eala before she makes her final vows to become a druid and live in the forest of Sevenwaters in quiet meditation and solitude. And never a word they said to my oldest brothers, when they came home, about what a foolish girl I’d been.Something I found really interesting when I read Marillier’s Heart’s Blood was how she set it in a specific historical period, and I love that she’s done the same here. Lady Oonagh does not appear until three hours through a twenty hour novel, and though the preceding events (disconnected though they initially seem), have a great relevance later, there is no denying that even Marillier’s descriptive style is rather ponderous. In that respect, do you think it’s easier for the boys to not remember themselves when they’re in swan form? The Bright One and Lady of the Forest bind him to Sorcha as her protector, and he swears to take care of her no matter the cost. I truly loved everything about this book but I especially loved the bond between Sorcha and her brothers. At a certain point, another level of conflict is added when Sorcha has to deal with the Britons, the sworn enemies of her own people. If you asked me to define heroism, I’d say it is not courage over fear, or even facing danger, but pure and simple persistence, someone like Frodo from Lord of the Rings, someone who endures for the sake of others. It was a remote, quiet, strange place, well guarded by silent men who slipped through the woodlands clothed in gray, and who kept their weapons sharp. With the exception of Conor perhaps, who seems to keep some of his own mind when he becomes a swan (because how else would we learn what was going on back home?
