Brooks has heightened its user-friendliness with options to choose a Classic or StealthFit upper on either Glycerin or Glycerin GTS, though with more color options in the neutral shoe. It’s also got a streamlined mesh upper to provide structure and fit without adding unnecessary weight. The cost pays off in the long run, with a durable build and midsole that make it a solid investment whether new to running or experienced.

The Glycerin GTS 20 faithfully follows the Glycerin GTS 19 which combined the stable, smooth-ride tradition of Brooks Transcend with the brand’s long-running Glycerin name and more-trimmed design. When you're out on the road, you'll definitely catch a breeze in through the top of the toes, but that real estate is limited.

Like past Transcend/Glycerin GTS models, the 20 has a rocker feel underfoot with a quick transition into toe-off. And yet, there will be runners who will be disappointed at the Adrenaline joining the neutral running camp. Since the GTS 20 is, for all practical purposes, a neutral shoe, you can tap into something like the Nike Vaporfly (4% and Next %), Hoka Clifton 6 or the new Balance 1080V10. Normal: A normal footprint would indicate that the arches are high and therefore offer the neural support a runner needs. This just happened from a run in Transcend a couple weeks ago since I loosen the laces for casual wear and thought it would be fine for 6 miles – nope, blood blister on my medial forefoot from a shoe with 200+ miles without issue.

A new streamlined, engineered mesh upper with 3D Fit Print offers the structure and proven fit the Adrenaline is known for — without excess bulk. With a softer medial side, the Adrenaline GTS 20 is a reverse stability shoe and closer to the Ghost than it has ever been.The StealthFit upper option, available in both Glycerin and Glycerin GTS, allows for more stretch and a modern look and feel yet a less-stable resistance to motion. Of course, the shoe also has a serious heel counter with a little bit of sculpting in the footbed to help re-establish a natural foot position. I just finished my first marathon in a decade in these, the Atlanta Marathon during the same weekend as the Olympic Trials.
