A major difference between the RC-500 and the RC-5 is that the former allows the simultaneous use of two tracks running either synchronised or independently, while the available memory stayed the same: both devices have 99 memory slots for phrases and can record a total of 13 hours of audio in stereo. They also appreciate the large number of tracks that the device offers, as well as the flexibility it provides in how it manages performance from pre to post.

The RC500 is perhaps the biggest looper you can get that still runs on battery and will fit nicely on a pedalboard alongside a host of other pedals. So this pedal will work well in various pedalboard/non-pedalboard situations depending on the environment you wish to loop in! So, this device offers you a very high degree of customisability on many levels but especially in interaction with external foot switches and MIDI devices, which we will get to in a moment. At the end of your contract when you've made your final payment, the instrument or equipment is all yours.For expanded operation, you can connect up to two external footswitches for direct control of many assignable functions, or an expression pedal for continuous adjustments. While the older unit had a just two footswitches, supplemented with a fairly busy upper section, the RC-500 adds an extra switch and streamlines the top.

Plus, with 13 hours of stereo recording time, there's plenty of space for extended creative journeys. The RC-500 comes with effects built in, but don’t be getting excited about it replacing your usual pedalboard.Being able to change the phrase length and have a count in was also helpful for various applications as well. Route left/right input sources to separate tracks, or send guitar and vocals to independent outputs. I bought this little badboy at the start of lockdown and I've had plenty of time to play around with it. I really enjoyed having the option of mixing between two tracks, the creative possibilities using this pedal are fairly endless.
