Yes, I appreciate some people are new to her books but most are not and we don't need to read it in every book. Their older half-sister Ashleigh has accused their father of something horrible, and the two young sisters have been removed from home to keep them safe. She starts with the same methods of looking after children each time then adapts where necessary and is rarely surprised by any reaction that she has to deal with. I ended the book feeling heartbroken for what this family went through and I appreciate that this is a true story and a really family that was impacted by lies.

I didn’t feel it was one of Cathy’s best books to be honest, and it didn’t seem like the same person had written it! Maybe it was the constant reference to covid it’s restrictions and their compliance or jumping to conclusions whilst also saying she didn’t judge? To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. We all know about washing our hands and sanitizer but what I didn't get was more of the girls story.

I'm a retired social worker, and worked with adults rather than children but I was fascinated by the level of detail Cathy gives about the similarities between the way children's social workers investigate and assess cases, and the way that I used to. nevertheless, i appreciated her writing style and insights into fostering as usual and it was nice to see that the children were indeed not victims.Yes I'm sure sometimes children lie but it is extremely rare compared to how many children are actually being abused. The baby is coming to her straight from hospital and will have no contact with her teenage mother, Haylea.
