About this deal

Right now, if I was going to an island and I could only bring one mid-range daily trainer with me, I’d choose the Ride 15. I will keep them for easy miles but to tell you the truth I was expecting them to be more versatile. Weight is as promised Keeps your feet free from strain and impact Runs smoothly but NOT for tempo runs Ride 15 is quite stable for a neutral shoe A big no-no for cold conditions The Saucony Ride 15 fits just right!

The springy PWRRUN midsole balances a cushy ride with a quick response, which gives it versatility for different distances and paces. Saucony has clearly taken a big risk with the Ride 15 but this uncharacteristic “go big or go home” approach has paid off. The upper provides a great lockdown throughout that handles trails, uneven surfaces, and turns really well without much problem at all. The midsole of the Ride 15 looks a lot thicker than it actually is because it has raised side-walls that extend the entire length of the shoe, from the heel right up to the end of the forefoot.I do feel like these are responsive and did a faster run in them than the Hoka Arahis or certainly the Brooks Adrenaline! Unfortunately this shoe is inferior to mach4, hyperion tempo, even to the novablast2, shoes that I use for daily miles.

Saucony shoes also tend to have a little higher arch, which does give a little more proprioceptive cue into the medial arch. It almost feels like Saucony gave it the “supercritical” treatment and infused tiny air bubbles into the foam because it feels more airy too which is where the massive weight reduction comes from.

The outsole of the Ride 15 takes a page out of the Novablast’s book with its long, deep decoupled groove that extends from the heel, into the lateral side of the outsole. Saucony kept its FORMFIT system for an adaptive fit depending on your unique stride, and they maintained the TRIFLEX outsole for good traction and flexibility. Guide fails to give me a propulsive feeling forward, however, which makes it seem heavier than it is.

Guide 14’s soft upper feel reminds me of the shoe’s maxed-out older sister Hurricane, with Hurricane 22 providing double-thickness of comfort around the ankle and a more bolstered feel under the arch. The rubber outsole adds traction on pavement and improves the shoe’s durability, but it also prioritizes a natural roll from heel to toe. In reality, the upper changes don’t feel like they make a huge difference to the performance of the Ride 14 compared to the 13.When partial gussets are done well like they are on the Ride 14, I prefer them over a fully gusseted tongue every time. With only a few aesthetic changes, runners who loved the Ride 13 will find an equal experience in the Ride 14. The shoe is very traditional in many aspects but uses a lot of subtle notes to refine the shoe and create a really smooth and engaging ride. The forefoot rocker, ie toe extension, is very important for maintaining forward momentum durming toe off.

It’s still a really comfortable upper, but it would be interesting to see a more significant weight drop for those who might still feel the Ride might be a little on the clunky side. It has enough cushion to handle longer mileage, but the PWRRUN sole has a bit of a kick when the pace picks up. The wide opening is easy to slide your foot into, and the narrower heel feels very secure,” one reviewer says. There is also a guiding effect with a crash pad like design and midline rift along the shoe from the rearfoot to the midfoot. Matt: The Saucony Ride 14 shares some subtle updates to the upper and midsole that further refine this already great daily trainer.

The Saucony Ride 14 is an everyday trainer that’s built for neutral runners who want a performance shoe that can handle short or long runs with consistency. The upper changes though didn’t feel like they were hugely noticeable in our running time with them.
