As down needs to be left uncompressed during storage, the Leviathan EV 900 also comes with a handy storage sack. One dlight niggle was the factory that it was easy to catch the baffle when zipping up but nothing more than a minor point in ky view. This is obviously not an issue in a dark tent, though I do ask myself why the design team at OEX decided to make this the only option – especially for their flagship down bag.
When I got in the bag for the first time, it did indeed feel soft, it had good loft, and it was nice and warm etc. Condensation in my tent was quite heavy on the first night followed by a failed tape on the tent which results in the bag becoming damp on the outer shell.Our community has been around for many years and pride ourselves on offering unbiased, critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. I never had to tighten the neck baffle, because it's large and wraps around my neck nicely and have had the hood loosely fitted around my head and was warm. It’s easy to throw this thing into the bottom of any backpack, and you can vacuum seal it in a dry bag to mould it into an optimal shape. I thought I would have had this bag for years of camping trips to come but unfortunately it did not survive one trip and I was lucky to survive it too, as this bag let me down in a precarious situation. Moreover, the bag packs down small, especially if stuffed into a dry sack, comes with a handy internal stash pocket, and the plush inner liner is soft on your skin. A few years ago now since I had to go through all this, but I ended up with a Panyam instead of a Rab. When it comes to packing away, the compression stuff sack will save room in your pack until you get home, where you can switch to the breathable mesh sack to help the down decompress to maintain its performance on your next adventure.Very light, good product, but it broke when I used the zipper for the first time, which made me unable to close the quilt all night. To be used only during the winter months for wild camping in the UK, are there any users on here that can confirm the suitability of the product? OEX list this bag as having a comfort temperature of -9 degrees Celsius, a lower limit of -16 and an extreme rating of -39. That OK, and comfort temp of minus 9 seems reasonable, but I do worry about the 'extreme tempreture' cited, which is minus 38! The OEX Leviathan EV 900 is a lightweight and compact 4 season sleeping bag that will keep you warm in temperatures down to around -16°C.
Additionally, the reasonably small pack size and weight of this bag make it a solid all-rounder for numerous adventures. Craig loves nothing more than pitching up in the backcountry, preferably while taking on a long-distance thru-hike.I’d only be confident stretching this bag down to -9°C (15°F) if I had some extra thick base layers and a warm fleece to wear inside it. Experience the lightweight and insulating benefits of a down sleeping bag with a hydrophobic finish that maintains its performance in damp conditions. I've watched reviews done Simon Bloke in the Woods and WIldbeare but any other links would be useful! I had to wear all the clothes I had in my pack and wrap what was left of the defective sleeping bag around me as best I could.
