About this deal

If you’re a forefoot-striker looking for a shoe that provides a natural barefoot-like running experience, but with sound rock protection and excellent grip, then the King MT 2.

The fit of the King MT 2 has evolved a bit from the previous model and felt more secure on my foot, particularly around my low-volume heel and midfoot.

Regarding the section on the weight, I bought these because the article said this was a very light weight shoe. That said, this iteration of the King MT will appeal to a wider range of both alpineers and runners who are looking for a wide-toe-box, zero-drop platform that performs in mountainous terrain and conditions.

The upper on the collar is thin while the tongue is long enough to pull out and adjust as you please. Overall, the midsole feel of the King MT 2 reminds me of the Salomon S/Lab Sense 6, which has a pretty similar stack height at 18 mm in the heel and 14 mm in the forefoot. I was able to traverse flawlessly along the mountainside over rocks, plants and uneven dirt in a run I never wanted to end. a few months back, but couldn't resist trying out the King MT 2s for their focus on tougher, more technical trails.Altra Zero Drop recommends that those new to natural running and zero-drop footwear transition slowly by wearing these on shorter runs and gradually building up to regular mileage.

FWIW, my pair of the US Men’s size 11 King MT 2 came in at a measured weight of 318 grams per shoe; with a 72 g difference between that and the stated weight for a US Men’s size 9, that discrepancy is a bit higher than what we normally see in our measured weights of size 11 shoes vs. What I mean by that is they are designed for thick mud, wet trails, snowy, icy conditions and technical rocky ground; so the construction of the shoes is just as hard as the terrain they are designed to conquer. With a 32 km (20 mile), 1300 m (4250 ft) run-hike on rough, rocky terrain yesterday I now have about 185 km (115 miles) on these shoes—enough to beat them up a little and inform an opinion. The battle took place on October 7, 1780, 9 miles (14 km) south of the present-day town of Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

The largest differences are between performance status groups, and the smallest differences are between groups of patients with local disease and those with metastases.

Beyond that, all of the testers were extremely pleased with the results and would highly recommend this shoe to anyone interested in OCR, big mountain runs, or for those who just have to run in soft or crappy conditions often. The Original Altra King MT entered Altra’s lineup 3 years ago as a rugged, low-to-the-ground, mountain running shoe. On the morning of August 18, 1780, two hundred mounted Patriot partisans under joint command of Colonels Isaac Shelby, James Williams, and Elijah Clarke prepared to raid a Loyalist camp at Musgrove's Mill, which controlled the local grain supply and guarded a ford of the Enoree River. The Velcro instep strap helps a little, but it’s worth taking a time-out to snug up the laces before a long downhill.

It has less cushioning than the Superior so most people will not want to wear this for very long mountain races. The crampons are hyper-efficient, and the midsole prevents feeling the sharpest pebbles against the soles of the foot. The 19mm midsole is not as cushioned as other Altras, but with the rock plate it offers enough protection to keep the bottom of your feet safe.
