It may be "fashionable" to diss Brut as an old-fashioned and mass marketed,cheap scent but Brut scent is classic for a reason. It's fresh, clean, sexy and masculine, a wealthy uncle used to wear this in the 70s when it came in a glass bottle with a silver medal thing on a chain around the bottle neck, it was so butch and sophisticated! The plexyglass bottled with a medallion is named 'Brut Classic' and it is a different scent with more anise and less sweet notes and lesser quality blended.

I still get compliments when I wear it, women love it ,recognize it and know this is what a man should smell like. Top notes are Lavender, Anise, Bergamot, Basil, Orange Blossom and Lemon; middle notes are Ylang-Ylang, Geranium and Jasmine; base notes are Coumarin, Musk, Sandalowood, Oakmoss, Tonka Bean, Vanila, Vetiver and Patchouli. But the truth is Brut was always here, around us, as a memento… as a olfactivo–historico–artifact of our unpretentious pleasure to smell something crispier than the fresh pure air. I understand that not everyone will like everything and that's understandable, everyone has a different taste and that's what makes them unique.A person who wants to defeat his opponent on the court but shakes their hand with utmost respect and gratitude regardless of the outcome.

Much like regular Brut, with a distinct "skanky" musk at first (the ghost of musk ambrette), followed by a rapid cloud of fresh, minty lavender and lemon. My dad wore this for a period when I was a child (until I thought his bottle was getting too low so I filled it with water). It's warming, dark green and suggestive of something that can only be a memory of childhood or adolescence by the time one's old enough to appreciate its complex simplicity. This has been toned down greatly through the years, but have no doubts the DNA stands and it is recognized still today. The fight began and Chuck was puttin a good beating on me with a chop-chop here and chop-chop there.it's still reminiscent of the old Brut 33 that I remember from decades ago, and I still like it after 15 minutes, but overall the vintage version was in a different league. I'm a guy that gives away anything that doesn't last from morning shower till lunch, but OMG this stuff is a bit much even for me! If said man loves fragrance layering with all the applicable body products of a favorite frag, but can't get them.

The bad-boy reputation suggests your pimp Brut is getting most of the attention, leaving you to do the dirty work. However, the other thing I noticed immediately was a licorice-y tone, probably owing to the anise, but I actually though it smelled more like a licorice plant itself. I wanted to re-live my youth when I bought this bottle, but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me. and there is a distinct chemical twang underlying the whole theme; but this really seems to have stood the test of time better than so many from the same era. PS this staple cologne was in every family toilet (as per Nottingh Hill’movie scene with Grant displaying Brut deodorant on the shelves) -then it went disrupted by the tastier colognes (yes- Brut’s brainchildren in the likes of Paco Rabanne pour Homme, Azzaro and Drakkar Noir sweeping by large the ‘80es).

From giving it a whirl lately, I can say it still smells pretty much the same although a bit tamer than I remember. Of note, during the 80's and 90's Brut was an absolute powerhouse of a scent, even if I just showered with soap/shower gel (i didn't get into using fragrances proper till my 20's) sometimes when I got home my Mum used to say "don't go too mad with the Brut", obviously guys just using it in the changing rooms was enough to leave a trail.
