About this deal

There isn’t another monitor with a traditional LED backlight that can hold a candle to what LG is offering here, at least in terms of image quality.

With FreeSync Premium technology, gamers can experience seamless, fluid movement in hi-resolution and fast-paced games. There are a few monitors that can beat the LG Ultragear 48GQ900-B: the Asus ProArt PG32DC, a high-end professional OLED monitor, is one example. Feel the intensity of high-paced gaming with the immersive stereo speakers or by easily connecting headphones. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. There are tools like AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) to help with performance, but the size of the UltraGear 48-inch OLED limits their effectiveness. The LG 48GQ900-B supports multiple variable refresh rate (VRR) formats, ensuring you'll enjoy a smooth, nearly tear-free gaming experience from any source that supports VRR. Featuring an incredible OLED panel with a high contrast ratio, you can enjoy colours and visuals that are intended for creators and gamers.

The 48GQ900-B, on the other hand, is designed to be used as a monitor, so it lacks a smart interface and advanced picture processing options. Audio Information about the audio system - number and power of the built-in speakers, supported audio technologies. With varying refresh rates, resolutions, and special features, it can be hard to pin down which monitor is best for your setup.

All OLEDs incorporate dimming features to prevent burn-in over time, but LG’s solution is so well done, I usually didn’t notice it at all. With such a large screen, running apps and browsers in smaller windows is almost a necessity, and there’s enough room to keep multiple windows up at one time. The display has a max refresh rate of 120Hz, but PC gamers using the DisplayPort connection can overclock the monitor to 138Hz. Without installing a separate software, you can see your Frames Per Second (FPS) in games by displaying it in the corner of the screen. It has just okay text clarity, as the RWBG subpixel layout isn't supported by most Windows programs.

While it would have been great to see LG hit 144Hz or higher, 138Hz is close enough that you aren’t likely to tell the difference, and games still feel smooth and fluid. Thanks to the inclusion of DisplayPort, it also supports the maximum refresh rate over either connection. The monitor includes the expected basics like brightness, saturation, contrast, and sharpness but doesn’t stop there. Like any OLED, you’ll still want to take basic precautions like hiding your desktop icons and taskbar, but LG has taken the kitchen sink approach to prevention, so you shouldn’t need to worry any more than your average OLED TV.

Between the extra screen real estate and pre-calibration, content creators should find a lot to enjoy. Like most monitors, the sRGB mode locks you out of most picture settings, but you can still adjust the R/G/B balance. The LG 48GQ900-B has a slightly faster refresh rate than most 48-inch OLED TVs that we've tested as a monitor. There are no hotkeys or advanced features outside of the turning on the Screen Split window arrangement feature.
