About this deal

This fragrance is all the magic and beauty of India in a bottle; the rich exotic food, the beaded handwoven detail on a silk sari, the saffron robes of the holy men, the chai wallas, the sweet houses, the crazy happy beat of banghra, the painted elephants, the festival of light with the floating twinkling candles on the Ganges, the temples, the garlands of marigolds, the henna on a new brides hands – all of it, even the beautiful architecture is captured on the bottle! This was the first perfume I ever smelled - I was 5 years old and my mom bought this perfume set with the matching shower gel.

I do appreciate perfumes that I have these specific "best uses" for, though, so that's not a disadvantage at all. Wish" is a lovely gourmand if you are into it, and Casmir is another intermittent go-to sweetish but more spicy oriental. Though reformulated, the fragrance still retains its magic with sparkles of carnation and cinnamon in the drydown (though neither are listed in the current composition). This unusual oriental fragrance is equal parts spicy and sweet, featuring a masterful use of vanilla. When you wear this you are surrounded by a cloud of vanilla so if you like vanilla you might like this. After smelling this, I can't imagine vanilla being blended with anything else that shows off its warmth *without* focusing on the sweetness quite as well.

I like Casmir better though because I find with Vanilla Fields there is some note that I can't quite pinpoint that seems mildly green when I wear it that conflicts with the sweet notes.

A scent to be worn on dark autumn and winter evenings, or, since I do like it very much, on a fresh spring day (I am weird, I know). Casmir is the bottled memory of those steaming mugs of spiced cider, Christmas lights illuminating dark sky of the early winter evenings, the fog of your breath in the dry, cold air, the warmth you feel surrounded by those that you love. Like I like powdery scents but this is almost straight up baby powder on me with some musk in the background. Aqua (Water), Parfum (Fragrance), Linalool, Hydroxycitronellal, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Citronellol, Alcohol Denat. It had morphed from a Vanilla Fields-esque scent to something that genuinely smelled rancid on my skin.

Before I had used perfume from time to time, but Casmir was my first real fragrance, which was also associated with me by others. It smells exactly like the opening of Ylang in Gold but dries down sweeter and nicer imho to that waaaaay more expensive perfume! UPDATE: I'm wearing the pure parfum version from Lancaster group, and it has a dusty sweetness that feels like the vanilla that Guerlain uses!

There's a tobacco or woody quality that cuts through the sweetness, and perhaps the carnation is contributing something "extra" here. Some very kind Fragranticans recommended this to me as a less costly alternative to my love Lalibela. Please read the full reviews and consider your own needs and preferences before making a purchasing decision. I have to admit that I don't gravitate towards fragrances the prominently feature vanilla, so my nose may not be accustomed to smelling it without associating it with ultra sweetness.

I caught florals and green notes and the older style of vanilla on which other reviewers have commented. Its not in pink sugar, prada, or all the other horrible cotton candy concoctions that are so popular nowadays. i keep getting sniffs of something i don't like though, which i cant figure out, but i will keep trying as i'm glad at least i can smell it now! I received a tiny bottle of Casmir with about 20mils left in it in a swap couple of months ago(produced in 2012 according to it's batch code),I tested it once and found a sharp, synthetic edge in it,didn't care much of it and left it in my wardrobe to test it later. It's still a shape-shifter depending on the weather, surrounding scents, and that day's body chemistry.Royal and warm like the finest fur with multi strands of genuine pearls around the neck; black, white or cream, take your pick as this scent is so fabulously neutral and naturally rich with nothing screechy or synthetic, Cashmir classes up your favorite pair of faded jeans and makes the most luxurious couture even hotter. Whether this is down to my sense of smell maturing over the past year or whether my little bottle macerated beautifully in cold, dark storage I do not know, but what I have learned is not to be hasty in my instant dislike of any scent.
