For anyone that has read this authors books before, you know that you fall into the storyline hook line and sinker, and that you just keep reading. I have read several of Dorothy Koomson's other novels, including The Ice Cream Girls, The Brighton Mermaid and Tell Me Your Secret, and this novel, My Other Husband is just as good.

With very strong and expertly drawn characters I found myself invested in them all the way through, though there were some necessary distasteful ones. As the reader gets to know more about modern-day Cleo, we are also taken back twenty-five years to when Cleo was a university student. The many time changes and the different points of view made this difficult to follow at times as I found myself flicking back a few pages to check when the previous chapter was set. My Other Husband was a long time coming, since the publication of her book The Flavours of Love I’ve been thinking a story with food and murder from another angel would be brilliant. It’s been a while since I’ve read a full book in one day but this was literally in my hand for the whole day.The dangerous obsession within the relationship of husband and wife and the guilt when the wife found out…. If you have been following me for a while, you’ll know I’m a fan and that I usually review her latest book around Spring/Summer.

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. However, as she drafts her final ever episode her life turns upside down and people she knows start getting hurt and it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to frame her for murder and she thinks she knows why. Dorothy Koomson has sold over 2 million books through UK Bookscan alone and is a regular Sunday Times bestseller. They absorbed the nonsense and made me not mind as much if they went off on random tangents that were nothing to do with me. I wonder, what music would Zack from Save By the Bell be into … If you came of age in the 90’s you’ll luv the pop culture references.

What I thought was going to be a crime/ thriller, turned out to be a boring story with a few murders briefly mentioned. Although this is a clever, multi layered slow burner there are some jaw to the floor reveals with information bombs that explode your expectations and opinions of certain characters. With shocking twists and an emotional, but satisfying conclusion, this is an expertly-crafted, rollercoaster of a novel that had me gripped from the beginning' Jendella Benson'Dorothy Koomson is on formidable form .

I took up various temping jobs and eventually got my big break writing, editing and subbing for various women's magazines and national papers.

And this (illness, mental state, obsession) played a huge part within this thriller that gripped my full attention. None of the characters were likeable, the story took an age to get going, and the ending was both unbelievable (not in a good way) and disappointing.

I was totally gripped throughout the reading wondering why main character and successful author Cleo was dismantling her. Read all Alice seems to lead a quiet life: the first three days of the week, she works in Paris and and meets with friend Philip, and his little boy, Simon.
