I’ve put off leaving the country for so long, convinced I’d be caught, and that’s precisely what might happen. Enzo and Sawyer eventually forgive each other and work together to get the hell off the ghostly island in one piece, but not before the incredible suspense and horror had me anxiously cheering for their safety and sanity. I did get frustrated by her in parts, but then she fully grew on me towards the end when the full scope of her past gets revealed. I was sucked in right away and not only enjoyed the mystery aspect of this but also loved seeing the characters develop as they are forced to deal with the situation. Sawyer’s past is heartbreaking and she is a badass survivor despite her deceitful ways to make ends meet.

I had no idea what this was about going into it other than this was written by the same author of the Haunting Adeline duet (I am a zaddy fan but can acknowledge that there are many disturbing aspects of those books) and it just kept getting crazier the deeper I went.However, while I do recommend this book, it deals with a lot of traumatic topics and should be read with extreme caution. I shouldn’t be smoking these in my possible predicament, yet the thought of death is too enticing, and I’m too scared to do anything else. His 'only I can hurt you' is so toxic, and he's the biggest red flag, but at this point, I'm not even bothering to be blind.

There was sooo many red flags and the fact they allowed themselves to be locked up at night was weird especially with a guy like the hero.Which is such bullshit, even though I can’t blame the angels for rebuking me in the name of the Lord. I didn’t get why Enzo was so pissed at Sawyer for stealing his identity and opening a new credit card. there must be some significance to the plot or maybe the trauma the heroine underwent during her childhood. Throughout this book, there were so many times where I had to step back and reevaluate what I had just read.
