Overall, the combination of a flexible throttle setup and a well-thought-out button and switch layout will take you a long way in achieving a keyboard-free flight simulation experience, in particular when combined with the Alpha Flight Controls yoke. Hence when you want to start the engines, you need to hold the switch there, just as in real aircraft, otherwise, it comes back and the engines don’t start. Similarly, the throttle quadrant has a well-designed panel with backlit LED lights that displays various aircraft issues and system status information, such as low pressure, engine fire, anti-ice off, and more.
Now after several years in development, its second product, the Bravo Throttle Quadrant is nearing release. CAUTION: It is "plug and play" in the fact that it doesn't require drivers and it is recognized by MSFS202 - BUT it needs FSUIPC (paid), SPAD. In X-plane 12 the quadrant will have to be programmed separately with a profile for each aeroplane that you will fly. The second set of handles is for commercial jets or airliners and is loosely based on a Boeing 737-style throttle quadrant, although it can be configured for aircraft with up to four engines. It is still early days but according to Honeycomb, more aircraft profiles will be made available moving forward.The product also ships with what I can only describe as the best mounting options I have ever come across and two sets of levers to accommodate various aircraft/engine configurations. Each axis has “reverse” which is a button (when you lower the handle, you pass a point which activates a button which is configured for “reverse” in MSFS). The suction cup fixes the throttle quadrant to a desktop with a tensile strength of 40lb to hold it securely in place.
The product is compatible with airplanes that allow for throttle detent calibration, but the buttons on the product are not functional. Both the Alpha Flight Controls XPC and Bravo Throttle Quadrant are made out of great materials, the handles are all very ergonomic and properly sized even for my larger hands, and offer a ton of features that made my life much easier.
