About this deal

Actual features, functionality, and other product specifications may differ and are subject to change without notice. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. Added tests for Console Compatibility and macOS compatibility and made minor changes to other tests, which you can see in our Changelog. Added text in the macOS Compatibility and Console Compatibility boxes and clarified text throughout as part of Test Bench 1. However, keep in mind that not all games support an ultrawide format, so you might see black bars at the sides, or the image might be stretched to fill the screen.

There's a quick-release feature to remove the stand for VESA-mounting, and the small hook in the middle of the stand is for cable management. The Gigabyte has wider viewing angles, gets brighter, and offers more features, like USB-C input and a built-in KVM.The Nano IPS display achieves 1ms GTG TN-level speeds and ultra-fast refresh rates, while mesmerizing with a rich, vivid picture, enhancing the intensity and purity of on-screen colors. The 34GP950G has slightly better reflection handling, and the unit we bought has better gray uniformity, but this can vary between units. The gaming experience is excellent and the text quality is also excellent when doing office/financial tasks. I'm mostly writing this to inform other Linux users who use Nvidia GPUs my experience with the UltraGear, and not "hey look at me I'm a Linux user". It can bring out some highlights in games, especially if you game in a dark environment, but it's not enough for a true cinematic HDR experience.

For gaming, the LG 34GP83A-B has a few more tricks up its sleeves to ensure it delivers a punch in gaming. The Gigabyte is better for productivity as it has a few extra office features built-in, including a keyboard video and mouse switch (KVM), which allows you to switch between two sources with one set of input devices.

The 34-inch LG UltraGear 34GP83A-B features a Nano IPS display that achieves a response time of 1 ms GtG while providing a visual experience compliant with the VESA DisplayHDR 400 specification. Viewing angles are decent, fine for sharing content casually or co-op gaming; however, there's some loss of image accuracy when viewing from the side, so it might not be ideal if you need to share work that requires precision. All these ports are easily accessible on the rear of the monitor – we found the location much more convenient than having them on the bottom. If someone comes across a different type of panel or their 34GP83A doesn't correspond to our review, let us know and we'll update the review. The monitor uses an IPS nano panel and is also HDR-enabled, meaning you don’t miss on anything that requires the reproduction of a decent HDR image.

There are many monitors in LG's UltraGear lineup with various configurations, some of which you can see in the table below. Discover the 34" UltraGear Curved WQHD Nano IPS 1ms 144HZ HDR 400 Monitor with G-SYNC Compatibility. We measured the HDR peak brightness in the 'Gamer 2' Picture Mode with HDR enabled and Brightness set to max. Still, the available port options are excellent, including two USBs (including an upstream USB port for connecting to your PC), two HDMI, a DisplayPort, and an audio jack.Although the Dell S2721DGF and the LG 34GP83A-B have different screen sizes and aspect ratios, they're quite similar in gaming performance. I'm not necessarily locked to LG, they're just what I'm most familiar with and what I know are generally good monitors. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. I am sorry that I am not able to provide you with a release date and potential retailers but we do not have this information available to us. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC.

Overall, though, the LG UltraGear is an exquisite gaming monitor, one that delivers an excellent combination of speed, responsiveness, an immersive 21:9 aspect ratio, and great image quality. I'll be honest, I can't figure out what the different is between the LG 34GP83A-B and the LG 34GN850-B (I know the 34GP83A-B says it's 160Hz vs 144Hz for the 34GN850-B, but the 34GP83A-B previously said 144Hz, and I think 160Hz is only if you overclock it). With the decrease of the display size and the increase of its resolution, the pixel density increases. For many of us, monitors with the ultra-wide aspect ratio offer a more immersive gaming experience than what you’d ordinarily experience in a 16:9 4K panel. The color temperature is close to the 6500K target, and gamma follows the target well for the most part, but most scenes are too bright.Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality.
