About this deal

So when this creature dressed in a kind of multi coloured catsuit and red strange-looking hair walked up the steps of Oxford Town Hall where we'd been waiting all afternoon (we were young) and made some breezy comment, I thought who the fuck is that? Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. Along with the familiar images are some photo's that I have never seen before and with an entertaining narrative from Bowie Himself this is a feast of Sound and Vision.

Produced from the negative at Rock’s preferred photo lab in New York, the colour C-type reproduces a stunning live shot of Bowie onstage at London’s Earl’s Court, in May 1973, and is suitable for framing.

We had a black and white television and read Melody Maker and NME, therefore David was not usually available in full colour. These special Publisher's Copies include an Anniversary Edition copy of Moonage Daydream presented in a slipcase with an exclusive 8" x 10" photographic print. This the blurb from the dustwrapper: "Moonage Daydream is the most complete detailed exploration of one of rock'n'roll's greatest creations: Ziggy Stardust. Mick Rock – otherwise known as ‘The Man Who Shot the Seventies’ – was a legendary rock photographer. I particularly like that Mick Ronson (DB's Spiders from Mars guitarist) gets featured in many of the photos: he's almost as charismatic as Bowie himself in these pics.

In 1972 David Bowie released the instant classic The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars —a record without which any Greatest Albums of All Time list is simply incomplete. Mick Rock's camera caught more of the Ziggy legend than any other ad followed Bowie into hotel rooms and dressing rooms, on the road and socialising with musicians and friends including Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and Mick Jagger. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

Mick first met Bowie before one of his early shows in Birmingham on March 17th 1972, he followed him back to London that night to interview him, it would the beginning of a lifetime of friendship. Alongside the stunning photos are setlists, tour notes, newspaper articles, pencil sketches, and early lyrics and interview notes. I would literally draw out on paper with a crayon or felt tip pen the shape of a guitar solo: the one in ‘Moonage Daydream’, for instance, started out as a flat line that became a fat megaphone-type shape and ended as sprays of disassociated and broken lines.

My only little gripe is the use of bold text on some of the paragraphs – I felt this wasn’t necessary and spoils the look of some of the pages. Fifty years ago David Bowie released The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust, one of the great classic albums of all time.A very consciously created persona by Bowie that was representative of the celebrity cycle of a rockstar.
