About this deal

Sei, pela fala de estudantes do assunto, que o livro generaliza bastante a bruxaria na Europa, mas pra leigos é bem interessante. A History of Magic, Witchcraft and the Occult charts the extraordinary narrative of one of the most interesting and often controversial subjects in the world, covering everything from ancient animal worship and shamanism, through alchemy and divination to modern Wicca and the resurgence of the occult in 21st-century literature, cinema, and television. High on the cliffs near Dover, the Silver family is reeling from the loss of Lily, mother of twins Eliot and Miranda, and beloved wife of Luc.

I’ve been able to keep my dad alive so far but i need to find the right ingredients to cure his cancer. Since studying the witch craze at A Level, I have gained a new area of interest that I aim to continue and expand and this book does just that. The author takes pains to dispel the popular mythology about how the witch hunts were all the results of the catholic church and I realized the impossibility of knowing every subject at any level of depth beyond a cursory one. It is, however, very Euro-centric, so if you want something a little more global in scope this might not be it. It is wonderful to come across a book that breathes such fresh life and energy into a well-worked subject, covering a huge range of time and space with a unified, passionate and convincing message.

The most comprehensive illustrated history of witchcraft available, A History of Magic, Witchcraft and the Occult will enthral and fascinate anyone interested in spiritualism and the occult. It shows us how witchcraft was reimagined by lawyers and radical historians in France, how suspicions of sorcery led to murder in Jazz Age Pennsylvania, the effects of colonialism and Christian missionary zeal on ‘witches’ in Africa, and how even today a witch trial can come in many guises. As the government’s national archive for England, Wales and the United Kingdom, The National Archives hold over 1,000 years of the nation’s records for everyone to discover and use. These stories of witchcraft, true and vividly told, demonstrate the potent reality of belief in evil and how in any era or place fear can be weaponised and marginal people, mostly women, labelled as wicked and dangerous. Belíssima edição, dividida em duas partes, mostrando os primórdios da Feitiçaria no mundo e sua História, na primeira, e na segunda, temos uma visão geral da Bruxaria moderna.

Too many uninformed young neopagans think that they are linked to the witch-craze when they are not. Uncover the meanings of their rituals and rites, their lore, and their craftDiscover the significance of their sabbats and covens, their chalices and wands, their robes and their religion. Each chapter offers a glimpse of a different version of the witch, introducing the reader to the diversity of witches that have existed in different contexts throughout history.

Haunting in every sense, White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi is a spine-tingling tribute to the power of magic, myth and memory. on Gods children, trust me, the Bible is the truth, it says “so whoever uses any kind of sorcery witchcraft, black magic, voodoo etc so against gods children will get sevenfold pay back to them“ that doesn’t mean 7 fold for all the times you have cursed someone or put a spell on someone it means for every victim that you have hurt, etc, and only you know how many victims you have targeted, so think about that for eternity you will spend in hell and you will get the wrath of God sevenfold. There was an abridged Dutch translation published in 1609, Davies notes, but was not republished in England until 1651, nearly three quarters of a century after its initial publication. But, it gives some information about African witchcraft when establishing that sorcery is a force that has existed in all cultures. The perfect introduction to magic and the occult, it explores forms of divination from astrology and palmistry to the Tarot and runestones, mystical plants and potions such as mandrake, the presence of witchcraft in literature from Shakespeare's Macbeth to the Harry Potter series, and the ways in which magic has interacted with religion.
