It's disco-ugly and vaguely obscene and I don't like it hanging out on the shelf with all my other lovelies. I may try to pick up a new bottle of Halston to see if it lives up to my scratchy-but -pleasant memories. Don't get me wrong I freaking love AE and wear it often in all its incarnations, heck I own the perfumer's reserve soild and fluid. Elsa Peretti's iconic teardrop-like bottle design features; from the flea-market necklace that provided the initial inspiration, to the prototype design, to the difficulty in convincing the corporate overlords to agree to it. Cedar and sandalwood enhance the vertebrate nature of this perfume's character, while fresh fruit exemplify the cohesive skin, blushed with amber and rose. I received a decant from a new bottle of Halston back in 2011 and it bore only a slight resemblance to the original, and I'd harbor a guess that that's still the case. Today at my place the weather is humid and rainy, and the sharp bitter marigold note completely overwhelmed the other sweeter notes in Halston (and the other fragrances I own), and I had to scrub it off.There doesn't seem to be a lot of complexity beyond (what I believe is) the remanufactured moss and a blanket description of "earth. It's green, dry, woody, and reminds me of my childhood, so perhaps my mother had this back in the day. Disco music is playing, people are gettin ready for a night out, the clothes are laid on the bed, and there’s a window open, letting in some cool breeze. I had both, alcohol free and "normal" versions and indeed - there are differences between these two fragrances.

The Primal Scream was uttered in metropolitan cities, bell bottoms scraped the floors with Frye boots and platforms danced the night away while shiny winged-back hair did the hustle. Since Halston and his perfume tend to be associated with Studio 54, disco, and excess, it was hard for me to listen to all of the Fragranticans who said Halston was a truly great chypre.Behind the Halston brand stands an impressive story of how the fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick was convinced to develop his fashion talent.
