About this deal

Ethan Larsh, an artist known for his exploration of various genres and musical mediums, consistently demonstrates his ability to craft authentic and sometimes deeply personal lyrics. The song, which clocks in at just under nine minutes, comprises some involvement from the audience before going back to barrel-house blues. The album was reissued in the mid 1970s as part of the double album 'Two Originals of The Faces' with record one being 'First Step'.

One of the prettiest ballads they ever wrote, 'Sweet 'Lady Mary' was clearly a Faces classic performance. The opener 'Bad In Ruin' was simply one of the best rockers they ever recorded (and should have been released as a single). Faces released four studio albums and toured regularly until the autumn of 1975, although Stewart simultaneously pursued a solo recording career, and during the band’s final year Wood also toured with The Rolling Stones, whom he later joined. This gives the listener some idea of what they were like as a live band (obviously you couldn't see their drinking and mad-cap on-stage behaviour). Ronnie Lane, by then suffering from multiple sclerosis, was on stage to sing in his wheelchair, but was unable to play bass; Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones filled in for him. That had its definite advantages, but when it came time to wrangle the songs into shape in the studio, it could also make things difficult — especially when they elected to self-produce, as they did during the Long Player sessions.

A unique early mix of "Had Me a Real Good Time" appeared as a single ahead of the LP in November 1970, backed with the non-album instrumental "Rear Wheel Skid". For Lane, the technical difficulties were only part of what ultimately kept Long Player from working as well as it should have. I’m also not big on the generic pub rock of Had Me A Real Good Time while the ragged On The Beach is shockingly produced and sounds like a demo. While Stewart was the primary lead singer, both Lane and Wood would also sing lead vocals on several tracks (Lane usually sang lead on his own solo compositions). The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. You may consider Long Player as well a well-spirited, good-humoured 100% real set of back-to-basics rock as one of the biggest blah blah's you have heard for a long while. As a compromise, in the US their debut album was credited to the Small Faces, while subsequent albums appeared under their new name. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Among their most successful songs were "Had Me a Real Good Time", their breakthrough UK hit " Stay with Me ", "Cindy Incidentally" and " Pool Hall Richard ". Stewart was scheduled to perform with the rest of the band, but was unable to do so at the last minute due to illness; he was replaced by Hucknall. If the song is titled "Had Me a Real Good Time" is really having a real good time (5:51 that is), unquestionably. A greatest hits collection, Snakes and Ladders / The Best of Faces, appeared in 1976, and additional retrospective albums would appear over the subsequent decades.Of course, before the end of the year, the Faces had released their third album, A NOD IS AS GOOD AS A WINK…TO A BLIND HORSE, which blew its predecessor away in terms of its chart success, climbing into the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic, but that in no way takes away from the fact that the band’s creative thrusters were firing full blast on LONG PLAYER.
