I'm sure part of the reason this series hits different is because we are following the children of characters we know and love or have already been acquainted with. Overall: after slow burn, bumpy road we took at the beginning, the book’s direction changes and the fast pacing, surprising, magical elements start erupting from the chapters, capturing your attention till the end! She is the bearer of the sword Cortana, that burns her when she touches it, and must find a murderer who's killing Shadowhunters. I loved seeing Lucie so passionate about something, and the scenes they had together, including the dance, were very cute.Imagine marrying the love of your life, but not actually marrying him, yet suffering through it with determination and not yielding to that pain. Marriage of convenience with cordilia Carstairs, as a way to repair her reputation when she lied for him. James and Cordelia must try their best to convince everyone of their marriage, while the Merry Thieves help in finding out who is the killer of the Shadowhunters.

I love their tension , the way they see all the little details of each other and well the freaking ending. If the ending were only that James could catch Cordelia from the train, tells her about Lucie and how she has been kidnapped by Malcolm she would’ve left the train and go with James to save her future parabatai. like everyone knew, matthew always preferred a hopeless love bc he never wanted things to get too close to his heart, and he always did have a habit of getting his heart broken time and again - then again, cordelia was different bc he was her friend, first and foremost. Lucie and Jesse's romance was not rushed I see that a lot in reviews people find their relationship rushed or even toxic because of the age gap, which is only 7 years and in the 20th century that used to be normal, but we all know that Jesse is stuck at the age of 17, after his death he hasn't aged, at all.

He filters so much of what he thinks, that I feel like there's no way he would say something like this. The only reason I didn't like it is that I wanted more of Lucie and Jesse and yeah (the Spoilery part). I loved Alastair, Thomas, Christopher, Anna and Ariadne as well, and I want to see more of these characters.
