About this deal

Sound clarity is also greatly improved over my old DVD and I found myself hearing pieces of dialogue as if for the first time. I hadn't read the book prior to seeing the film although it was good to recognise a lot of allusions in the film which have filtered into everyday life. When Alice grows very quickly after eating the biscuit, the next 10 minutes of images are beyond all doubt of an extremely lewd nature, and once you have grasped this it becomes very obvious.

Alice's chase down the rabbit hole leads to her encounters with many odd characters culled from both books, from Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee to the Walrus and the Carpenter to the Cheshire Cat and the Caterpillar. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. She chases him and falls into the magical madcap world of Wonderland with its kaleidoscope of off-the-wall characters. My granddaughter loves rabbits, and loves this DVD of Alice in Wonderland, she adores Alice, and from the moment the white rabbit appears, she watches intently for the rabbit to reappear. Alice meets all her old friends from the Disney movie, such as the White Rabbit, and of course the Mad Hatter, who is potrayed brilliantly by Depp.

We had an older DVD of this and were surprised at how much richer the colours were in this blu-ray release. The Mad Tea Party, the Queen of Hearts' Croquet Game, and Alice's encounters with the Caterpillar and Cheshire Cat fuse the spirit of Carroll's words, the vitality of the polished animation, and the stylized look and brilliant palette of designer Mary Blair. Jonathan Millers startingly imaginative masterpiece was shot in black and white, and captures the menacing atmosphere of Lewis Carroll s narrative with a dream-like editing schematic, actors dressed not in costumes but in period clothes, and a jarring, seductive, beautiful score by Ravi Shankar. All in all, a brilliant film to watch: Good plot, Good actors, some outstanding CGI and humour throughout. There was also a very welcome use of humour at various points which lifted the film to a whole other level.

I bought Alice in Wonderland for my 2 year old granddaughter, as I had loved the book, when I was a child. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Walt Disney Home Video children's trailer from Late 1990 with clips of "Lady and the Tramp", "Alice in Wonderland", "Dumbo", "Mary Poppins", "Donald Duck in Mathmagicland", "Disney's Sing-Along Songs: The Bare Necessities", "DuckTales", "Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers" and "Winnie the Pooh and Friends".

She loves the part where the rabbit runs around stating he is late, loves the moment when Alice eats the carrot from the rabbit, and becomes smaller, loves the dog sweeping away the path, adores the moon which becomes a cheshire cat. As the script includes a lot of pure nonsense and often it's not possible to predict what the conversation is about or the actual made-up terms are spelled, it is very difficult to follow without subtitles. Though simplistic (good conquers bad in the end as Alice defeats the Red queen) the combination of great acting and amazing special effects mean the simplicity really didn't matter.
