About this deal

He served as a bridge between past and present--between the ancient traditional craft and the development of origami as a modern practice--in terms of inventing new techniques and in preserving the traditional Japanese forms. We were taken back to the meeting room for a "luncheon box " meal, as always, tasty and fascinating and, of course, according to Buddhist tenets, vegetarian. Their quality control and graphic style is second to none, so I was delighted to see this title of theirs published in English by Tuttle (who are also re-publishing all Nui Nui titles). Although he had previously disliked his contemporaries, he was not opposed to having his photo taken with them.

Eduardo Galvez, from Grupo Zaragozano, appreciates to Yoshizawa his collaboration and sends him ten models of the GZ.Este libro reúne 60 modelos de origami del gran maestro japonés Akira Yoshizawa que no podrían clasificarse simplemente como papel plegado .

Yoshizawa entertained their overseas guests to a farewell tea-party with some of the people who had helped us in our visit. There were two exceptions to this: the small display of models by the overseas folders who had been invited to the exhibition when it took place in Tokyo, and an Antarctic scene in which penguins folded by members of the public during a lesson in origami had been added to Yoshizawa's more advanced models. What especially interested me were the sacred shimenawa ropes which hung over the entrances to every shrine, big or small. In 2014, I had an opportunity to visit Sano Art Museum in Mishima, Japan for the exhibition of Akira Yoshizawa: The World of Creative Origami. They had previously held an exhibition of the Impressionist paintings from the Courtauld Collection of London and he generously presented me with a copy of the sumptuous catalogue.

From a little exhibition in Utsunomiya Education Hall, in connexion with an educational congress, the Toshigi district Teacher’s Association recognizes Yoshizawa’s work as creative and educational art. It was an impressive and sacred place with its ornate altar illuminated on either side by cascades of white "fairy" lights on either side and with a magnificent gilt chandelier suspended above.

Akira Yoshizawa ( 吉澤 章, Yoshizawa Akira, 14 March 1911 – 14 March 2005) was a Japanese origamist, considered to be the grandmaster of origami. Born in 1958 in the prefecture of Chiba, Kazuo Hamada graduated from the Tokyo School of Photography and began freelancing in 1984. He would never sell his origami figures, but rather gave them away as gifts to people, and let other groups and organizations borrow them for exhibiting.
