About this deal

But through all of his time traveling adventures, he has matured in so many ways that his revelations and acceptance of his purpose in this final book carries more weight. He's just such a good character, and I loved how he didn't fall into the innocent naive autistic character even if you could somewhat read him that way at the beginning. I guess the biggest lesson I learned from this series of books is that everything happens for a reason, and generally, we won’t know what the reason is until we reach eternity. I mean, there were definitely over-the-top feels: I was HEAVILY INVESTED in Henry and Theophilus, and my god, there was a scene about 65 percent along where I nearly spontaneously combusted despite nothing overtly sexual happening (note "overtly".

The danger and suspense are weaved throughout the story with some climatic moments, making for an intense read. He uses it to assassinate the King of Diamonds and the King of Clubs, and trap Nomad, Jack, and the London agents in their bunker to suffocate. As it is, I can definitely appreciate the ideas behind this, but feel incredibly disappointed with its execution (the writing style was also, in my opinion, subpar at times). As I’ve traveled through time for five books with Rembrandt Stone, at the end of each—but none so much as book five—how was he going to get out of this mess? Much better to spend paragraphs ruminating on the thoughts each man has for the other than to waste time with anything so foolish as new business ventures, much better indeed. Some parts were quite unbelievable, for example the fact that Henry was over 500 years old but still had never been anywhere out of England?

I received a complimentary copy of Heart of Stone by David James Warren from Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own. There are a few stylistic quirks that started to annoy me after a while (the whole thing could have really benefitted from some copy/line editing and the ebook is not formatted well), but nothing so significant that the story suffered. There are just so many details I loved, from Theophilus’s love of the rain to the cat interrupting an almost kiss to Henry’s care and concern about power dynamics and consent in all areas of his life. Keya, realizing Parker is power-hungry and no better than those she wants to bring to justice, allies herself with Stone by shutting down The Heart, and revealing Parker's location.Actually – the movie was executively produced by the same team behind Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. It’s 1764 and an exuberantly sociable vampire hires a quiet, young introvert and they fall for each other in this exceedingly slow burn romance. Four weeks later, Stone is on another mission, joined by her new team members: Keya, now codenamed Joker, and Jack where they cause streetlamps to shoot sparks in celebration of Christmas in a town square. It’s a simple spy thriller movie where the power to save the world lies in the hands of a single secret agent– in this case; it’s Rachel Stone, portrayed by Gal Gadot.
