About this deal

Though used for quite a few actions and adding further randomness to a game that can already feel like it’s erring on the side of too random, it does make the combat – and consequently, the game – a little less predictable, though not necessarily in a bad way.

Here to Slay is a competitive role-playing fantasy strategy card game that's all about assembling a party of Heroes and slaying monsters (and sometimes sabotaging your friends too) from the creators of Unstable Unicorns. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game as it is, but there just weren’t enough challenge cards to prevent your opponent’s army growing before it was too late.Build a party of valiant heroes, use Magic and Item cards to gain an edge, or roll the dice and try to slay a monster.

Each battle is a fairer and a more exciting contest- each little army is full of more exciting characters- and it’s a better two-player AND large group game. This includes a special box, unique hero and leader cards, exclusive item and magic cards, and a dice tower.

Ability text on party leaders and monsters is so small that it often goes forgotten, however, which feels like a bit of a flaw. This means that our wonderful team hand-measured every t-shirt size to ensure that we are giving you the precise measurements of the shirts as we received them from our designers and manufacturers. In this game, you’ll assemble a full party of heroes to slay dangerous monsters while working to avoid the sabotage of your foes. Those cards were the ones we had the most questions about both nights we played and it really came down to not being 100% clear on what we could and couldn’t challenge. If you’re like me, and apparently incapable of rolling anything greater than a 7, you’d be delighted to know that these cards are for you.

Each monster has a difficulty score to beat if you want to defeat them, and a lower score that if you fail to exceed will lead to you actually losing something. There’s a lot of space given to the artwork – which you can understand, given how nice it is – but it would have been nice if more attention had been paid to making the cards a little more clear to read in terms of their in-game benefits. It balances the different actions really well (making attacking monsters a high-stakes, all or nothing move) and allows players to have big turns playing lots of cards or draw several cards at once when they start running low. When playing in a smaller group, we always found challenges to be in desperately short supply, so were delighted to have an extra couple to unleash on our opponents.

If you’re lucky enough to have these two new classes in your army, you are able to unleash the ‘Druid/Warrior Challenge’ cards. It’s an entertaining blend of Unstable Unicorns’ set collection and ‘take that’ elements, with some RPG style dice rolling and monster bashing thrown in.
