The first impression you'll get is a zesty kick, which then melts away to let delicate spice notes do their thing - look out for the coriander, pink peppercorns and mace which all complement the citrus.

The process passes the 50:50 wheat and barley mash through an 11,000 litre, multi-bubble still resembling a giant hookah pipe, before rising through a second which, at 18 metres high is taller than a submarine’s conning tower. Our distillation programme is hugely exciting, and we can't wait to get the copper stills working and producing amazing BrewDog spirit. The head of our distillation team Steven Kersley is now dialling in our gin recipe using the 50 litre pilot still, with over 30 different botanicals for trial, building up the flavour complexity until the blend and ratios are perfect. Pungent at first, the flavours give way to an enchanting blend of floral lavender and surreptitious pine. A lengthy description of the production facility, given by Ginfoundry, reveals the staggering size of the set up that involves a three-stage distillation and purification process that could easily serve as a film set for a future James Bond movie – complete with some crazed genius intent on world domination. alongside a selection of punchy botanicals, which include Scots pine, lavender flower, fresh grapefruit peel and more. Flexibility is vitally important to us, and the Lone Wolf distillery will have experimentation at its heart.

Made in Scotland by spirit lovers, and inspired by centuries of distilling know-how, LoneWolf paves the way for a never-ending pursuit of perfection. The resulting 97 % purity vodka is then given final clarification via a ‘demetheliser’ tower before the spirit gets infused with any of the dozen plus botanicals and is distilled again in smaller copper stills. In case anyone is anticipating a review of a Navy strength spirit like The Beast or ELG, LoneWolf actually comes in at a relatively tame 40 % ABV though you will sense more power to the jaws than with the tantalisingly fresh Wicked Wolf which we covered in the early days of our blog. We worship juniper in all its raw, imperfect glory (using 5 times more juniper than your average craft gin).
