About this deal

Some putties, like Milliput, will be softened by water while still uncured, but that's more of a side effect of the composition than a feature. The epoxy component doesn't mix with water, it's the filler that's affected. Painting Milliput or any other epoxy putty is quite easy if you know what you are doing. I personally did a lot of things wrong, when I painted my first few epoxy putty sculptures which resulted in the paint chipping off, and in some cases, the paint even bubbled before simply peeling clean off of the sculpture. Once you are satisfied with your paint job simply let the paint dry and then finally apply a top coat to protect the paint from the sun, from scratches, and more. I like to use either a varnish or an acrylic sealer as a topcoat. Then there is the cure time. Milliput is also designed for model makers, artists and other creative types who desire a putty which gives them more time to sculpt, carve and shape.

I wanted to have a go at making a miniature tree and wanted to use wire to make the armature as I’ve watched a few cool tutorials on doing it this way. I wasn’t sure what to cover the wire with until my father-in-law mentioned Milliput. I’d used polymer clay before but Milliput is very different, for a start it’s an air dry material, rather than needing to be baked in the over to harden.Work your way up the wire trunk adding a layer of putty to cover the wire. Don’t worry too much if it doesn’t look too bark-like at this stage. Alternatively, you can opt for using ProCreate Putty, which I saw mentioned here, and sounds like something that acts a bit more like you would expect of a watered down putty. And what about fixing pipes? Can Milliput epoxy putty be used to repair a leaking pipe? Regular readers of PipeRepair.co.uk should know the answer to that one as we can often be found extolling the virtues of epoxy putty when it comes to sorting leaks and bursts.

Terracotta can be used on pots, ornaments and garden urns. Turquise Blue was released in 2019 to cater for woodturning, marbling and jewellery making. Milliput is an epoxy putty, meaning after you mixed the two components together you only have a limited working time before the putty has hardened to an extent, that will make it impossible to work with it anymore. But what if you still wanted to add a few layers of detail to your sculpture before it hardened? Well, not everything is lost. You can still work a little bit on your sculpture even after it dried. Take a small amount of Milliput, make a hole in the middle with the end of your paint brush and put a drop of water in it. The top layer of Milliput will dissolve in the water and create an adhesive ‘wash’ which you can use to fill in gaps with a paintbrush. What is Milliput used for in making miniature models?Epoxy putty is an amazing sculpting material because of its ease of use and for its amazing durability. I personally love to use it for small integrate details on my sculptures or if I need a sculpture to be very durable. The extraordinary durability is one of the big advantages of epoxy putty over regular air dry clay.
