It's so mediocre that the author has resorted to simply taking historical rumours, like the one about Catherine the Great having relations with a horse, and giving it to a ruler in this book with no attempt at dissimulation or making it fresh and new. However, neither the Targaryens (with their ridiculous silver hair, purple eyes, and pyromaniacal urges) nor dragons do much to interest me.
