About this deal

It's the only one that makes sense to my ears and within the context of the kind of quality studio recordings The Beatles made. I’m not sure how I missed this the first time around, but the remixed versions of some of these songs sound pretty amazing. Our old friend soniclovenoize has a version you can check out here that is way better than what the producers came up with for Let It Be…Naked. A second innovative approach was added when it was decided to film the rehearsals; allowing viewers to trace the development of each song from its first rough run through to the final polished version.

So after more than thirty years of it getting under his skin Paul finally decides it’s time to de-Spectorize Let It Be. It is unfortuante that there are in my listening audible places in Naked where there seems like relatively noticeable overload to the point of over-saturation and even light distortion. It is the Twickenham Film Studios sessions that have characterised the whole Let It Be project as an unhappy one both in the minds of The Beatles themselves and anyone who saw the documentary footage in the movie. Throughout the tapes Paul doggedly insists that only by working hard together can the group survive. He is also determined that they should break away from their insular recording career and appear before the public again. There was already a de-Spectorized version of the original on Anthology 3, but instead of using that the producers opted to include a take recorded five days after the original instead, which includes the absolute lamest organ solo ever committed to tape in all of history. Much of this ado has been about what might have been (coulda, shoulda, woulda) which IMO has no place in a review, which serves best by being about what's there, and not what should or might have been. Because the producers didn’t just give us a de-Spectorized version of “Across the Universe”, it’s de-Paul-George-and-Ringoized version too, for who knows what reason.

It's the other versions of it that too often to me sound too drab, old-fasjioned, and too intentionally or self-servingly off the cuff, in a way that is more undermining than it is supporting, imo.Across the Universe" – a remix of the original version recorded on 4 February 1968, without speed/pitch alteration, sound effects, piano, maracas and backing vocals; with echo effects unique to this version. The real shame, as is usual with these things, is the opportunity lost: there was a wealth of material recorded that hasn't, at least officially, seen the light of day, other than a dozen or so tracks on Anthology 3. com (also known as Esprit) has been the world's biggest and best seller of premium quality and top condition rare and vintage vinyl records, rare CD's and music memorabilia since 1985 - that's 39 years! They dropped “Dig It” and “Maggie May” and added “Don’t Let Me Down” completely changing the track list. And I remember thinking, “This is how I want all the proper Beatles releases to sound, why don’t they work on that instead?
