About this deal

I was impressed how adjustable for overall length this detector is. Not only can you adjust the lower shaft for length but the arm cuff shaft as well. This again is perfect for those little ones in your family just getting into the hobby. The Minelab Vanquish 540 is the second highest priced metal detector in the Vanquish series (the most expensive is technically the Vanquish 540 Pro, which comes with an additional search coil). This is the alpha dog of the Vanquish line and has the most features. This detector is all-purpose, uses Multifrequency and is compatible with several coils, which is cool. You can adjust audio tones and depth indication, and also control the volume of signal, because there is no vibration. The system is not rechargeable, and you can use only headphones for this model specifically. Offering 3 pre-set detecting modes plus pin-point and all metal modes the Vanquish 440 will take your detecting to the next level.

You’ll be a bit crazy professional. Since, I personally, won’t be able to dig having 5 discrimination segments in my device… Noise cancel The Minelab Story: With over 25 years of excellence, Minelab continually delivers the World's Best Metal Detection Technologies, creating premium quality products for your greatest detecting advantage. Minelab's superior technology was initially conceived through the inventive genius of physicist Bruce Candy. His quest to improve metal detector capabilities has resulted in more patents for new metal detection technologies over the past 25 years than any of Minelab's competitors. Strongly focused on research and development , Minelab has the largest engineering team in the metal detection industry with more than 30 scientist, engineers and technicians committed to producing the next generation of detectors. Whatever your lifestyle, Minelab superior performance metal detectors deliver the most exciting treasure hunting and gold prospecting discoveries imaginable. Overall, my recommendation is one of the Vanquish line of metal detectors. The Minelab Vanquish 440 is a great beginner metal detector with enough features to make an intermediate detectorist happy but is simple enough for a newbie to operate. And it has a great price! Because the Vanquish 440 has a few more features than the 340, if it falls within your budget, I recommend this model. What really sets the Vanquish 440 apart from other entry level metal detectors is the Multi-IQ technology. The Equinox 600 and 800 have the same Multi-IQ technology, but at a hugely increased price. The Simplex+ is a great model too, but only has a single frequency. The Vanquish has waterproof coils up to 1 m (3.3 ft) and Water Resistant control pod (with optional Rain Cover). All other features are generally like in the 340 model – all purpose multifrequency with several compatible coils and tunable signal and stuff. The system is not rechargeable, and only native headphones fit. Vanquish 440 has four search modes: coins, relics, jewelry, and custom. As for me, I use Relics mode more often. I’d advise using All metal at the beginning, but you should pay attention to how each target sounds, including iron. This way, you’ll learn to hear what kind of metal is under the coil, and then you can switch to other settings and feel more confident when using them. The design of the Vanquish series is rather curious, and while it really reminds a device from some kind of videogame of the 80s, at least it does not fall apart when handled (like Go-Find does). Vanquish looks pretty solid.

The frequencies range from 5 kHz to 40 kHz, so this detector is perfect for finding all types of metals. Many single frequency metal detectors struggle to find gold, as gold is best found at a frequency of 18 kHz or higher. This metal detector can find even small gold with its higher frequency. Each of these metal detectors would be a great investment for a beginning detectorist. Minelab’s Vanquish line is changing the game by offering a true multiple frequency metal detector at an entry-level price. The Vanquish 440 is a great all-purpose metal detector and the Multi-IQ technology is a huge advantage. The control box is not fully waterproof and should not be submerged. It is, however, water resistant with the included rain cover. Remember to take caution with your detector around water as it is not waterproof and could be ruined if dropped in water. Use a strap with the arm rest to keep the detector on your arm while hunting in water, and be extra cautious in rivers and streams as the beds can be very slippery. More than that, the real intelligence of the system is that the Multi-IQ processing will collate and compare the signals from all operating frequencies, analasing the similarities and differences between them to get a clearer picture of what's really down there. This gives you better target ID and discrimination at greater depth, and the versatility to perform in a wider range of ground types, handling mineralisation, wet sand, etc. That means you can find and identify targets that a single frequency will struggle with.

Most entry level machines operate at a frequency under 14 kHz, while the Vanquish line can operate up to 40 kHz. This means the Vanquish series of metal detectors will be better at finding all treasure types, including gold, than other entry level machines. Minelab Vanquish 440 vs Vanquish 340 Minelab has provided an option for the user to save a preferred setting to which they can easily return that is most effective in their environment for the type of hunting they do. I see that Minelab and … Nokta got the idea. Right, this is Nokta Simplex that I consider as a main rival to these devices. Especially, for beach hunting fans.

Moreover, a new series of coils that were developed specifically for Vanquish machines attracts attention as well. All metal detectors in the series have DD coils, which is really cool (best regards to Garrett again!). Fourthly, you get a bluetooth compatible machine that allows you to connect to the Minelab application. And fifthly, the system is rechargeable. The Vanquish 440 comes with a pinpoint mode. Pinpoint mode is designed to help narrow a target search area down, so you dig less. It gives a more precision readout about the target location. This model also has iron bias, although it is not adjustable. It is preset at high. It features 10 levels of sensitivity adjustment to tweak it for your soil type, and 5 depth indicators.Three tones are factory set at Low, Medium and High all of which are clear and very distinguishable. Not surprisingly, I like this set up since I programmed my Equinox 800 and my CTX 3030 years ago to report 3 tones. Personally, I don’t need any more than 3 since ALL targets encountered are either low, medium or high conductors so why not align the tones accordingly? A simplified plus in my book. So, there you have it. In the battle of Minelab Vanquish 440 vs Vanquish 540, Vanquish 540 has reigned supreme because of its advanced features. FAQ which is probably better described as switchable frequency. Switching frequency is effectively like swapping one single frequency coil for another, without physically swapping it. Iron bias settings allow some control over the target ID response. Low iron bias will allow a natural response from the detector, meaning the target is more likely to be classified as non-ferrous. High iron bias increases the likelihood that the target is classified as iron. Minelab promises the Vanquish 440 will work well on all metals in all soils all the time. Custom Find Mode allows you to save your favorite settings. Many very low frequency (VLF) metal detectors struggle in mineralized soils, wet sand, and saltwater terrains. This model does better than most in these areas because of the Multi-IQ technology. The Vanquish 440 has 12 discrimination segments to control which metals to accept or reject and allow for a customized search.

One huge advantage for the Minelab Vanquish series over the competition is the ability to run on multiple frequencies simultaneously. None of the other entry level metal detectors (besides the Minelab Equinox line) feature this technology. No other entry level metal detector offers operating frequencies as high as the Vanquish series, either.

At that, the rivals on the market are very active and they continue designing new metal detectors. For example, Turkish Nokta Simplex can successfully compete with most of modern metal detectors for beginners. Můžete se pohybovat v jakýchkoli půdách, nebo hledat jakékoli cíle. Díky technologi Multi IQ máte současně v rukou jak detektor na nejjemnější zlaté cíle, tak přístroj pro hledání depotů. The metal detector itself is quite lightweight, and even with a large coil, it is quite convenient to walk with it and hold it in hand. A: It depends on how you will be using the detector. A good rule of thumb is the bigger the search coil the more area you can cover and the deeper it can go. But deeper is not always better. Large coils have less sensitivity to smaller targets and are susceptible to electromagnetic interference. The 540 comes with a 12” and 8” search coil. So, the 12” coil will cover more ground and search deeper but may suffer the effects of electromagnetic interference. Note of appreciation: I want to thank Kellyco Metal Detectors for providing the Vanquish 440 for me to evaluate as well as my hunting buddy and good friend Gary Bronga (pictured right) for his valued contribution to this report.
