This is a very popular oil painting workshop tutored by Wayne Attwood, President of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Wayne is a highly accomplished painter and excellent tutor, able to teach people with different levels of experience from complete beginners to advanced. The workshop meets 10.30-3.30. We usually set up from 10.10 for the 10.30am start. We are based in Clare Wassermann's studio, top floor of Gallery Hall at Newhampton Arts Centre. Room 103The cost is £32 (plus booking fee) for the day if you bring your own materials. You would need to bring oil paint. Wayne uses burnt sienna, permanent rose, ultramarine blue, cereulean blue, yellow ochre, Naples yellow and white. Also, a few bristle brushes, a small primed board, canvas, or oil painting paper to paint on, a palette or plate, rag or paper towel, some solvent such as non-toxic Zest it, low odour solvent or white spirit, a table top easel, a couple of jam jars or double dipper, a palette knife. There will be ventilation in the studio (window and door) but if you have an allergy to white spirit, which may be used by some people, this workshop is not for you.Or, £37 if you want Wayne to provide your materials and then you would just bring your photo reference, tabletop easel, palette. (If you have a couple of small jam jars or a double dipper, and also a palette knife that would also be useful but can manage without). Wear old clothes and/or bring apron or overall. If you can let me know if you know that you will need materials it would be much appreciated. Please bring the £5 for materials with you to the workshop.Choose any subject you like – Wayne’s specialism is urban landscape but he is brilliant at advising anyone on any subject! Bring your own sketch/photo as reference. We are all working on individual projects using our own sketches and/or photographic reference material.
